Sounds like the wife and I will be making yet another journey north this weekend to take in a little college football action.  I have been working on recruiting some of this year's squad to enjoy the trip with us, but have not had any confirmed attendees as of yet.  Any insights into the playoff atmosphere, time schedules, and general "things you need to know" about the post-season play?  I have looked in to tickets, and fortunately, she and I are both students, so should receive the NCAA student rate?  However, do we need to show up Friday evening, tent and sleeping bags in hand, in order to secure a couple of prized tickets?  Or, should there be some still available on Saturday -pre-game ish?

Tough loss for UST(d).  Roney never got his big win over the Johnnies, and that, especially in the big rivalry, may be his biggest "failure" as a Tommie coach.  I thought it was a nice article about him, though.  It is impressive the "non-football" related accolades his teams and players have amassed.  Best of luck to him in his future endeavors.
Out of order, I'll show you out of order! You don't know what out of order is, Mr Task! I'd show you but I'm too old, I'm too tired, and I'm too f----n blind. If I were the man I was 5 years ago, I'd take a FLAMETHROWER to this place. Out of order, who the hell do you think you're talking to?

Does anyone know where the SJU students were last weekend?  I was looking forward to a big turn out from them.

Weather? Price? Distance?

Don't forget the playoff game against Albion in 1994 - I still have a hard time thinking about that one  - the screen pass that wasn't.....................................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Played in the game.....have the film.......toss up call!

That game was lost by too many turn overs (int and downs).  not having Palmer hurt as well.

Worst part about the whole thing was the fact Albion trounced Wash and Jeff in the Stagg by something like 42-14.

I also owe multiple knee surgeries and a concussion to that game.  God did we get loaded that night for the Tommie/Johnnie basketball game!

I'm pretty sure there is no sell outs at Clemens, they will cram as many people that show up in there so I wouldn't worry about bringing the tent and sleeping bags  ;D

Sorry TDT, but I must issue an executive order here and let the suasage-meister himself call the shots. Veek has toiled away countless hours over the hot grill to feed us his awesome brats, so we should allow his "polish and grandeur"   ;) to rule the grill.

Fellas if I send an emisary to the grill before 11am would that help the situation?  Like I said earlier a family to do item has come up before the playoff game which will shorten my time to be around before other duties call...

St. John's doesn't draw nearly as well for playoff games as they do for regular season games.   I'm not exactly sure why.  Some of it is the weather, hunting seasons and that sometimes  Thangsgiving weekend can fall on game day.  If you look back to 2002, there were only something like 2,300 posted as attending the Redlands game.   Don't worry about the crowd size this Saturday.

Hey Johnnie fans!

Can someone compare the 02 Johnnie team to this years team?  Who do you think was better and why?

It seems that the 02 team may have been more explosive....true?

Thanks !

Remember there were 7 turnovers by SJU in that game...as for comparing the two teams, I think the J's are maybe a step behind on O from that team and yes that step is Elliott...but the O line this year might be a little better... and the defense is comparable, they have had some solid performances this year and only gave up one TD last week.

VOJ-with the grilling schedule set up by Veek, the Polish should be around until 11:00-11:15, so if you are sure you can't get there by 11:00, I would send someone.

Yeah I should remember that only the big rivalry games draw the huge crowds, playoffs seem to have a hard time attracting folks due to the reasons mentioned above.  Also the visiting team usually has to travel a decent distance so that limits their fans a bit.

No one does. All of the 'perks' are gone. No free tickets for students or alumni. Everyone has to pay the freight. And also, no one has really planned for the game, and may have family stuff going on. Sure, at St. John's you expect a playoff game, but you don't take a home first round game for granted.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if UST looks long and hard at Caruso at MAC.  I hope he doesn't jump ship but he is one of the best young minds in coaching.

Meidt is a candidate but I heard from a Johnnie this weekend that UST would never hire him.

Grant would take a $40,000 pay cut.

Ramler would get burned at the stake if he took that job with his Johnnie ties.

Or maybe they go outside the state.

This is like the NFL, less then a week after the season and two west region coaches resign (Hefty at Luther)

Like Brian or Mike C.?- I'd bet if you send Veek an e-mail with who & when that Veek would grill up a couple polish for the crew. I'll bet Wooderson will be tipping back a few with Duffman before the game unless he has sideline duty this weekend :D
