MIAC vs IIAC next week, we could end up with these same WIAC clowns "officiating".

Nope, "L" says that the crew from today's game in Collegeville will not be in Pella next weekend.  He also said that UW-Eau Claire is no good and he has no idea how they made the playoffs.

Yeah, L was a decent L to talk to. Some suck for interacting and he looked to be one of those sucky ones at the start of the game, but he lightened up a bit after a while. I did really enjoy the UWEC commentary. I hope he realized that he was going on the record with that, because I'm sure TC can turn it into a 500 word essay on JohnnieFootball.com this weekend.
Nice day, huh?

That right there was the official-related joke of the century. I know I was L-ing after you dropped it on him.

Great game and times today behind the Pine curtain.  Nice seeing everyone.

Zip - thanks for bringing the Polish again.  They were awesome.  I can't wait to see what nickname Buckwheat is going to come up with for you.  Safe travels on your way home.

OAS - thanks for handling the grilling duties at halftime.  The White Silly would have been proud of your efforts today.

Nice meeting some Redlands fans.  Very classy group and team!

On to Central and another battle next week!  One week at a time.

Go Johnnies!!!

OzJohnnie

What did the attendance look like today?  The box score doesn't say, but the crowds were pretty noisy over the internets.  Particularly when F was f-ing and L was laughing.

WABASH ALWAYS FIGHTS

The game you refer to was a regular season finale, but thank you none the less.

Congrats to SJU on a comfortable win today.

Great to have the first one out of the way, finally!  Atta way, boys!  Some stuff to clean up this week before UWEC (fumbles, big flags), but overall another very good performance.  Hopefully the injured guys can get well this week.

DustySJU's thoughts on the game and keys to a fruitful playoff run;

1.)  AK-11 should not be allowed to ever throw off his back foot save for deep lofts into the corner of the endzone.

2.)  AK-11 has near 99% accuracy when stepping forward and throwing off his front foot.

3.)  The key to Johnnie playoff glory will be continued inspired play.  Coach Gagliardi looked like he was 50 years old and ready to rip the refs heads off yesterday.

4.)  Bryce and Chewey again avoid Stiftungsfestivities to spend time in the bookstore.

Developing....

Good to finally meet you Dusty.  Couldn't believe the difference in Kofed within the same game yesterday.  Maybe he needs to commit more quickly to scrambling left or right instead of continuing to drop backwards.  Should be a lot easier to throw off the front foot if he can get in a position where he can step forward first.  As far as the bookstore, those of us with introverted tendencies require a frequent dose of the bookstore. ;)

BTW, even though the NCAA takes away some of the fun of attending a football game, did anyone else enjoy the lack of "please turn to page xxx of your Johnnie game day program" as much as I did?  Also, I'll be surprised if there were more than 3,500 there yesterday.  Based on the confusion I saw from the ticket takers, they probably forgot to set up a way to count the attendance.

Attended my first stiffyfest yesterday, watched the game with a different frame of mind.

The Johnnie D plays loose even when being driven on, a luxury to have that confidence and pull out the big stop when needed.

Very good special teams play yesterday.  We need to keep that part of the game going.  What's with the Dawgs trying a FG from 47 at 37degrees.  They must not have any science majors.

Is there a history to the way Johnnie receivers come back hard to the ball?  I understand it is suppose to be that way, but it is not done as aggressive and consistant with most teams.  AK can get away with throwing off of his back foot when the receiver comes back hard.

The NCAA has schools charge $5.00 for its playoff program.  That is an indication of how tainted an event can be when the NCAA is directly involved.  No way was I going to pay that.  I wonder if charging $5.00 per program could be construed as "hostile and abusive"?  That organization is really a blight, a menace really, vis-a-vis college athletics.   The sooner that monopoly is broken up, a la "Ma Bell" 1983-1984, the better.  With many athletes (d-1 in particular) not being able to read and write, with recruiting violations of numerous schools, with athletes visiting whore-houses with the sponsorship of major universities, etc., etc., it's clear the NCAA is not fulfilling its stated mission; it's just collecting a lot of money.  Wouldn't it be good for competition to have the NA00 broken up into various regional associations who could work their own deals and who could be better at policing things?

As per usual, I was late for the game so no chance for stiffyfest.  It was good to see Dusty after the game, however.  I'm looking forward to getting my Dutch letters, and hopefully a Johnnie victory, next week.

This is interesting to me.  Are you saying that out of the $8 charged for admission, the NCAA gets $5?  I also assume they get the program receipts and the merchandise sales proceeds, or do the schools get a portion of these?  In turn what does the NCAA pay for?  A post earlier in the week indicated that the NCAA pays for air expenses for visiting teams.  Do they pay all travel expenses?  How does all this break down?

Johnnie Red

We will be hosting the Stiftungsfestivities in Pella this coming Saturday morning, just as we did last year. Hope many of the Johnnie fans can join us. We will be in the parking lot by the entrance to the Central stadium. I would imagine we will get things going around 9:00 a.m. Dutch letters will be served. Bring a culinary delight to share, along with the beverage of your choice. Red cups will be available.

Anyone else thinking about making the trip on Friday? Let me know.

My thanks to Veek, Zip, Dusty and everyone else for making the Stiftungsfestivities a success yesterday. The food was fantastic, as always. Little unusual to be warned about not having any alcohol present at the tailgate.
