As Dusty says " we either leave at 5:00AM or we get home at 5:00AM" on the road to Pella once again  ;D

Great to visit with the Redlands fans at the Stiftungfestivities. Thanks again to Johnnie Red & Veek for being the Gill Masters & Zip for bringing Chicago's finest.

The Johnnies are starting to get that play-off swagger back, a little Johnnie Magic so to speak.

BTW, even though the NCAA takes away some of the fun of attending a football game, did anyone else enjoy the lack of "please turn to page xxx of your Johnnie game day program" as much as I did?  Also, I'll be surprised if there were more than 3,500 there yesterday.  Based on the confusion I saw from the ticket takers, they probably forgot to set up a way to count the attendance.

The NCAA has schools charge $5.00 for its playoff program.
This is interesting to me.  Are you saying that out of the $8 charged for admission, the NCAA gets $5?  I also assume they get the program receipts and the merchandise sales proceeds, or do the schools get a portion of these?  In turn what does the NCAA pay for?  A post earlier in the week indicated that the NCAA pays for air expenses for visiting teams.  Do they pay all travel expenses?  How does all this break down?

The NC00 gets most of the gate, I believe, and all of the $5.00 for the programs.  I am not sure about this but I'd be surprised it this were not the case.  I think SJU gets the concessions and sales proceeds for shirts, etc. but I think the NC00 gets a % of that too  The NC00 does pay for flights and I think it gives the coaches/players daily stipends for food, etc.  Some of the money it collects is to reimburse it for that. Even the ivory-tower, leftist, snot-nosed college professor-types on the NC00 Executive Committee are monopolists in the end.  Deny schools their autonomy.  Deny people free speech at games.  Have the area PC Gauleiter at every game to report back about "incidents."  What does that sound reminiscent of?

I get it that you don't want to pay $5.00 for a game program. But when you stoop to comparing the NCAA to the Nazis, you've lost the argument.

OxyBob

I've lost nothing.  Just ask anyone affiliated with the University of North Dakota, University of Illinois, Central Michigan and numerous other schools about the PC insanity employed by the NC00 about school nicknames, quotas on the number of black coaches and possible sanctions for schools who do not keep up with NC00 recommendations about hiring a certain % of minorities, etc.  This is the next issue to be address by the so-called "catalyst for social change" -- the Myles Brand label for the NC00.  How about banning nicknames like "Hurricanes," "Storm," "Cyclones" etc because they may offend victims of hurricane Andrew in Florida and Katrina in Louisiana?  How about sanctioning the U of I because its FB team has a pink locker room for visitors?  Think its a joke?  It's not.  How about having the NC00 Executive Committee (Star Chamber) mandate policies without even bringing such policies to a member vote?  The powers that be in the NCAA are PC elites and the mindset of the PC true believers is very much an extreme, absolutist mindset.  If the NC00 Executive Committee labels your school something, the school is that something.  There's no room for dispute.  There's no room for school autonomy in making decisions about many issues, even the hiring of coaches, unique to the schools themselves.  My comparison is entirely apposite.  If you're unaware of any of this, you haven't been reading what the venerable NC00 President, Myles Brand, and his chief cohort, Walter Harrison, have been saying.  If the NC00 Executive Committee labels SJU a "hostile and abusive" environment and imposes sanctions because its Benedictine, Catholic tradition and the Abbot do not allow for the promotion of certain moral conduct on campus, what do you have?  You have "conform and do what we say or suffer the consequences."

It's not as big of an issue in D-3, at least with the private schools, because there's not as much money involved and the administrations and faculty have not, by and large, been stacked with people of similar ilk.....yet.  You do see it somewhat at Mac in MN though.  I know of at least two judges and a handful of fellow attorneys, all alumni, in my area who are beyond disgusted with that bastion of free thought.

At the risk of really making you guys mad, I will ask: Is it okay to push an official who has made a bad call (a WIAC guy to boot) if you are a coaching legend?

Yes, you can "touch" an official if he has just patted one of your football players on the butt. ;D

Oh, I understand now.  And I only lost 1 karma point.  I'm thinking there will be more to follow.

You didn't get dinged from me as I have not been karma circumsized. :o

Wow.  You guys really are in a good mood this week.  Now I get two more plus karma points after my sarcastic question.  I think it's a Catholic thing.  All about forgiveness

Gags got away with one there.  Personally, I didn't think the refs did that poorly yesterday save that one call that JG was upset about and one more where they determined that the Redlands guy caught the pass when he dropped it.  The refs do the best jobs they can and, overall, they do outstanding jobs.  On some of the penalties that mae the whole SJU fan base boo, the refs were right on from what I saw.  To the SJU people: we're starting to sound like a bunch of Linfield posters regarding the refs.  The rest of the MIAC posters here still seem to be balanced.

Who cares about Karma anyway?  I'm with TDT on this.  With the old system -- the one where you rated peoples' posts 1 to 5 -- was kind of silly too.  I used to rate every Linfield poster a "1" just because they were Linfield people and I like most of them.  I guess, under the new system, one has to be an "All-Star" or whatever to be a voting member of the Karma Brigade.

Is that an old Ohio State video?
