All right-I am back safe and sound in Illinois-a little weary-but worth it.
Thanks to JR for another great tailgate and great to see you again.
Great to see TDT, Veek, Duffman, TC, Shoes, Dusty, et al. A peasure to meet L. Bean and drink the tasty koolaid.
Very nice to meet VOJ and thank you for the comments. I think we see things more alike than different. Nice to see you later at the B-Ball game-J's looked good.
As for all you posters that like to invoke my name when I am not here to defend myself-  :( Having said that, I will say this, I did not boo Kofoed on Saturday, even with the first half mistakes. I left the honors to Duffman-who got berated by other Johnnie fans.  :D And for the record, I have never chased a ref or player into the locker room-even when I was a RAT in the early 80's for b-ball. :)
The refs were not especially good, even trying to spot the ball was an adventure-I guess maybe the NCAA thought I was serious when I mention the Stagg Bowl refs of '03. But, SJU played a good game and overcame the questionable calls.
It was fun to see SJU play, tough for 27 minutes of the first half, but after that, WOW. I thought it would be good to go in at half leading 7-6, and TDT and Veek won't let me forget that conversation. :D Defense played a good game and they do tend to bend a lot-but don't break.
All-in-all great time in Collegeville and TDT why do I have all that Mountain Dew? ;)

Coocoo and Klop, Maybe you should heed this bit of dialogue from one of my favorite new TV shows.

Prison Guard: Is he making fun of us?
Det Crewes: It is the Universe that makes fun of us all.

I am going to be interested in DuffMan's Analysis of the Dutch. A quick glance at them shows that (for the most part) the main thing they do better than the opposition is score points. It looks like they generally get: out gained; out first downed; out time of posessioned etc. Anxiously awaiting the expert's opinion and prediction - Oh , I know the prediction just not by how much  ;D

I think that one of the reasons for the shortage of hops is that some of the posters on the NWC and IIAC boards are full of them - unless somebody has a better term ;)

As I recall ZIP our comments were not negative but happy for you that you were there in person. I must admit that we missed your eloquence esp when AK 11 threw the first pick :P
Will you be going to Pella ???

ok-57-sometimes it is hard to get the feel from just reading the posts several days later. SJU had the lead and I wasn't really worried about the first pick-guess we knew he would throw a couple, but Redlands, while good, didn't appear to be a team that would win, if, and when, SJU turned it on, and boy did they with than long pass. The guy behind me said that Weber was open on the play were Kofoed threw that pick, so somebody was watching and waiting to run the same play again.

I made a comment during the game, in response to somebody's question, that the Johnnie posters are a lot tougher on the Johnnies than their critics are or than we are when we are actually at the game. I think you will probably agree with that. bennie and I had some fun though.  ;D

Wow - SJU truly is international.  Aside from Oz listening from Ozzieland, it seems esteemed author James Fallows, who writes for The Atlantic and is currently living in China - and who apparently is a UofR grad - listened in to the game (at least for a bit) from China.  He has a nice albeit short blurb in The Atlantic Online.

ZIP,
Hope you can find an adequate replacement for me for the next 3 playoff games. Mrs. 57 told me she would go to Homecoming with me if I would accompany her on a Panama Canal cruise starting the day after Thanksgiving and somebody has to do it.  ;D Not good timing however.  >:(

57, if all goes according to plan, I'll hold down the Mountain Time Zone seat for you on Saturday. I'm heading to western ND to see the folks for Thanksgiving and don't plan on missing this game. I'll even go out and pick up some microwavable popcorn for the occasion.
Nice day, huh?

Managed to acquire a copy of BDB's diary - and found this interesting entry from last year.

Sunday morning I got up early, put on my long johns, dressed quietly,
made my lunch, grabbed the dog, slipped quietly into the garage to hook
the boat up to the truck, and proceeded to back out into a torrential
downpour. There was snow mixed with the rain, and the wind was blowing 50
   mph.

I pulled back into the garage, turned on the radio, and discovered that
the weather would be bad throughout the day. I went back into the house,
quietly undressed, and slipped back into bed. There I cuddled up to my
wife's back, now with a different anticipation, and whispered, "The
   weather out there is terrible."

My loving wife of twenty years replied, "Can you believe my stupid husband
is out fishing in that ****?"

I still don't know if she was joking...

:o :D
