I have some issues with the all-miac selections - why not honor everybody if you're going to honor 6!!! QBs in a 9 team conference?  That is a bit rediculous.

Truer words have never been spoken!  They need to name 30 o-linemen all-conference to keep up!

A tradition unrivaled...

Not sure I want our QB on the all sportsmanship team.  Maybe that has been part of the problem? :-\

Another great option the same weekend is the BockFest in New Ulm. Duffman can vouch for the latter.

Our bus is reserved already ;D

Do I get to go again this year? I behaved myself last year...mostly. Well, better than slappy Danielson anyway.
Nice day, huh?

Hey Duff, I was at the international zone yesterday and was lucky enough to stop in the Czech bar and have myself a real Budweiser.   Much better than that St. Louis crap.

We have that here-used to be called Budvar, maybe what is it called in Europe, but name changed to Czechvar in US. Interesting law suit behind all that and the naming rights.

kubiack78

yeah had to do quite a bit of pointing and gesturing to get the barman to understand what beer we wanted.  Luckily there was a guy with us that spoke both Czech and english.

My freshman year, one of the top WRs was a senior by the name of Steve Lynch. He went to Carleton for a year before transferring to SJU, but wasn't what you'd call a "star". Solid WR, yes. Big-name transfer that shook the MIAC, nope.

That said, I think we'd be pretty open to taking transfers from a MIAC school. For instance, I bet John would be glad to have Flannery next season ;) However, as I cannot remember a relevant occasion (chime in, old timers!), I really have no idea if this would fly or not. I guess I'm looking at it from a pure "receiving end" PoV. If we were losing studs to a rival, I'd be pissed.

You know, if a few of you bastards had been a little nicer to Scrubby when he was around here we wouldn't be having this discussion.

You think so?  I can't imagine any kid picking Bethel because his grandfather, who was no friend of SJU to begin, felt he was poorly treated on a message board.  Are there many kids who come down to picking between Bethel and SJU?  There would seem to be a lot of, er, cultural differences between SJU and Bethel (even if they can dance now) that it's hard for me to see how a kid could be drawn to both schools, even if he's picking for football reasons.

MIAC Awards are out - a little surprised by the Stam winner.  While I don't follow every team's O-line, I follow the MIAC pretty closely and had never heard of this guy.

The other observation, wow, olaf graduates a lot of talent!!  This may have been their best shot. . .

Weller is a stud, and he is very deserving of this award.  Very strong, very athletic, and a very hard worker.

Couldn't agree more about your comments regarding the over abundance of All-Conf selections.  This is supposed to be something special, not something that's handed out just because.

Yeah St. Olaf does graduate alot, but along as the Meidtster is still there you can be sure of 2 things. 1. I will have a healthy dislike for the program, and 2. The Olies will run up the score on somebody during the year and be totally surprised when others call them on it.

Good luck to the Johnnies and the R....Roy.......Roy......Royals this weekend.  Wow, I have reached a point I thought I would never get to, wishing good tidings onto Bethel College, I think I need to go take a bath.
RB George Rogers, about the upcoming season:
"I want to rush for 1,000 or 1,500 yards, whichever comes first."

You don't have to do it. You can cheer for UWEC like those of us in Red. ;)

Retired Old Rat

I am looking for a ride to Chicago after the SJU/Central game.  Ideally to Loyola University.  Or, a drop off anywhere on the Red line downtown or points north.

If this is possible, please send me a personal message.
