My freshman year, one of the top WRs was a senior by the name of Steve Lynch. He went to Carleton for a year before transferring to SJU, but wasn't what you'd call a "star". Solid WR, yes. Big-name transfer that shook the MIAC, nope.

That said, I think we'd be pretty open to taking transfers from a MIAC school. For instance, I bet John would be glad to have Flannery next season ;) However, as I cannot remember a relevant occasion (chime in, old timers!), I really have no idea if this would fly or not. I guess I'm looking at it from a pure "receiving end" PoV. If we were losing studs to a rival, I'd be pissed.

You know, if a few of you bastards had been a little nicer to Scrubby when he was around here we wouldn't be having this discussion.

You think so?  I can't imagine any kid picking Bethel because his grandfather, who was no friend of SJU to begin, felt he was poorly treated on a message board.  Are there many kids who come down to picking between Bethel and SJU?  There would seem to be a lot of, er, cultural differences between SJU and Bethel (even if they can dance now) that it's hard for me to see how a kid could be drawn to both schools, even if he's picking for football reasons.

I'm steadfast in my resolve to never use those stupid smileys in my posts (no offense to those that do, it's just not for me), but my earlier post was in jest.  It was pretty apparent from the moment Scrubby stepped "unbiased" mouse on this board that he was completely biased towards Bethel.  There's nothing anyone on here could have done to end that love affair, but it probably didn't help when we called him on it after every post.

I wonder if that whole situation would have played out differently if we knew/cared who his grandson was.

Good luck to the Johnnies and the R....Roy.......Roy......Royals this weekend.  Wow, I have reached a point I thought I would never get to, wishing good tidings onto Bethel College, I think I need to go take a bath.

What did you think you would never do, wish good tidings onto Bethel or wish good tidings onto Bethel in the second round of the NCAA playoffs?

Just wanted to post one of my highlights from the SJU Redlands game.

LBean walking out of the Porta John looking like he got in a fight with the anti-bacterial hand wash dispender and lost.

He looked like he was 10 minutes out from performing a major labotomy on someone.

He looked like someone emptied a gallon of clothes detergent in a public fountain.

it was priceless.

Thankfully OAS had paper towels at the ready.

Maybe I should change my handle to Purell.

What's the deal with Bethel?  They got some fan support prior to the Johnnie game, but there's no support for the in the play-offs?

Yet another reason that Bethel sucks.

We have that here-used to be called Budvar, maybe what is it called in Europe, but name changed to Czechvar in US. Interesting law suit behind all that and the naming rights.
Yeah, and I believe the Czech beer had a slogan "Beer of Kings."

Years ago the WSJ had a great headline:

King of Beers,
Beer of Kings
at lager heads

Duff,
Looking forward to your preview tomorrow.  8)
Posting here since I've pi$$ed them off enough on IIAC. Does that mean I've arrived ???

I'm sure all their fans already made other plans for this time of year--they're just a surprised as we are that Bethel was able to win a playoff game.

Just more proof that the St. John's game really is their game of the year, while the Johnnies have bigger fish to fry.

fannosaurus rex, any chance we could get Hillary to stop by the Stiftungsfestivities Saturday morning? :P The ultimate dream would be to have her and Paris Hilton both in attendance.

It would at least assure Fins' attendance. ;)

Duff...
We're here...just don't have time to engage in the conversation.

Leaving our home near Tacoma tomorrow morning for our trip (driving) to the Midwest and our 2nd meeting at the "garbage pit" at Bethel on Dec. 1st.   Hope to see you at your Stif.   I will see what I can do to get more porta Johns.

As I recall, Scrubby wrote last Fall that his grandson was considering Bethel, St. John's and St. Thomas.  Probably shouldn't be too hard on us "old fogies".  Never know what the implications might be.

How do you include a previous post within its box and the reply outside the box?
Quick look through Helps didn't help me.
Sorry, Duff...I just added to your post.

I'm still around, just finishing up a real busy couple of weeks before thanksgiving break.  I do agree with that statement though TC, unfortunately the Johnnies game has been the emotional peak for bethel, while st.johs has been able to see beyond that.  Hopefully that continues to be untrue this year.  Hope to be seeing the johnnies on campus again on the 1st of dec.  Good luck to all this weekend.

We're still here - we just get such joy from reading all your rants and raves that we don't want to interrupt the banter.

A couple of years ago the MIAC got more "strict" on the all-conference selections, now it seems they are back to the "everybody gets an award" approach.
