OZ - What the hell are your new countymen thinking of electing another wacko lefty to the PM post? Are they off their meds?

Is everyone sure that Hansel (not Gretel) will be the starting QB next year? Seeing Joe Boyle in a couple high school games makes me think he is in the mix. Getting Vanderhyden, Overman and Saladin (please get healthy) back makes for a fine receiver core. Also, Jeff Gilbertson could be a good addition on the D line, adding size as well as ability.

It is usually a wide open race after the incumbent graduates, so it will be interesting to see who wins out for the starting job.  Its been so long since we've needed a new starter, I'm not even sure how they decide.  If I remember AK11's first game, they just kept plugging in QB's until one got the job done and thats how we got our 4 year starter.

Mighty Royal (you're my boy and seeing you on Sat. was one of my highlights of 2007 (cause YOU"RE MY BOY),

Hey, Silly - How about getting Might Royal to come back to the board?  I'd even put up with Chuck Norris once in a while.

Good Lord, what should I do this next Saturday? :-[

JJR, I've got a project to keep you busy - how to convince ESPN Game Day to come to Collegeville.  They've been to the Ivy League and this year they even went to Williams, so why not SJU?  How can they pass up the best game day experience in D3 (per d3football.com), a Hall of Fame Coach with the most wins in history, one of the top 10 places to watch football (per Sports Illustrated) - and, most of all, the Stiftungfestivities?

Finally, I hazard to guess that if Game Day shows up, so will Paris! ;)

White Silly...not even sure how to respond to that but I did play offensive tackle. Im not going to rush to judgement on the Bethel team but we heard all last week how we didnt match up with SJU speed wise and all that so Ill let the play on the field do the talking.

Freebird - I dont think we necessarily got away with one...or got lucky as many have called us. You did dominate the stat chart but we won how we have for 3 years now. Taking advantage of mistakes by the opponent (Wetzel int returned for 6), and superior special teams(we had an 80 yard ish punt that year). It was a great game and we have been known to be outgained, but we have also won the last 15 or so games in a row that we have been outgained. I think it was very poor clock managment at the end of the game that really killed you guys' shot at the endzone, although we did stop Porta from inside the 5 before time expired.

In conclusion a lot of the guys that played on that team are playing still, RB, QB, couple WR's saw action, DB, LB's, DE and so on. It should be one hell of a game and Im excited, I always thought Bethel played tough, as is evidenced by your victories over SJU lately. Im looking forward to this one!

DutchHawk, common wisdom on this board is to not respond to White Silly but to talk around him.  Also watch out for Bethel's fullback (I think Dusty Wahl is his name).  He killed UWEC yesterday on short yardage and goalline situations.

DutchHawk,

Hello there.  Hi, my name is THE WHITE SILLY.  I generally like your posts.  First off, what position did you play?  Secondly, I respect your program greatly.  Thirdly, as much as Connell has improved, Wetzell has done the same (and then some)..he is an ABSOLUTE BEAST...a true cross between Brady Quinn and Tim Tebow.   Fourthly, Bethel has, without question, had the softer side of the bracket.  You are correct in that statement.  Fifthly, I will not guarentee a Bethel victory...but, in my biased opinion I think how they match up with ya'll, will bode well and give them a close, hard fought, victory in Pella (although I don't know your team in great detail, so this is, for all intents and purposes, a solid guesstimation, but I love guesstimations and largely base my everyday life off of them, this is the way I live my life = an unstable way to live life...but I find it to work for me as an individual...every person is different...but, i just prefer this unstable way of living, as I like to live with the Silly and unpredictable way of life here on planet earth...TO ME, STABLE = PREDICTABLE, AND THUS...NO FUN!!!...UNSTABLE = UNPREDICTABLE, AND THUS FUN!!!..."life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get -Forrest Gump(someofyoumighthaveheardofhim) a2 + b2 = c2 "knowwhati'msayin?") they are a different style of football as compared to the Johnnies (who I have much respect for having lost to them EVERY YEAR I PLAYED FOR BETHEL)...but, styles make matchups...this Bethel team will match up SEVERELY different than the Johnnies matched up against you guys... and I think will = a hard "CLOSE" game with BEN "timtebowbradyquinn" scoring the game winning touchdown as TIME EXPIRES!!! who's with me??? TC??? are ya with me?...TDT, are ya with me?...Mighty Royal (you're my boy and seeing you on Sat. was one of my highlights of 2007 (cause YOU"RE MY BOY), Cheese are ya with me???...CARL SPACKLER...SETH, are ya with ME?...either way, I hope, whoever wins this coming Sat. (Bethel will win by 3 points DUTCHAWKinator)...serves Mt. Union...........YOU GOT SERVED

You are a rare talent, TWS, and amazingly I find myself giving you +k.

I've actually found The White Silly to be quite entertaining now that I don't take him seriously. :)

Well, see, Howard is a bit of a victim of his own success.  Basically, most people here agree with 80% of what Howard did.  Rudd ran on doing exactly the same as that 80% and changing the other 20%.  All the big policy issues (Immigration, taxation, defense (excluding Iraq)) are in the 80%.  So with Rudd we get Howard lite.  With extra smarm.

And even on the issues where he has a change of policy, it won't be all that different.

* He's pulling out of Iraq by the end of '08, but the Aussies only have about 800 men there and they are in southern Iraq which is being handed back over to the Iraqi's now anyway - no significant change in actual policy.  Australia's big commitment is in Afghanistan (where it seems most attention is needed at the moment) and that goes unchanged.

* Rudd's going to sign Kyoto, but Australia is already beating the targets.

The biggest impact was that Howard (and Costello, the Treasurer) where quite committed tax cutters.  I'm sure that policy will change...

I don't know if you really wanted commentary, but there you are.

And one last thought on the election:

A wise friend I met here in Oz once told me, "The problem with elections is that no matter who you vote for the government still gets in."

I think it would be more entertaining if he learned to use the space bar or return key.

I personally like Boyle.  Also, I think Michael Crees of Wayzata will be back in the mix.  I think he took the year off for shoulder surgery, or something of that sort.

Johnie Red, thanks for the support.  I have stayed off the board this year because I wanted to see the teams play without all the smack.. I want KR, Duff, tmerton, sjusec, and TDT, and all the other big posters to know it has been a absolute honor to talk about your football team in my circle of friends.  Mention SJU and people know how good of a league my son plays in.  By the way,  I think everybody would rather see a rematch in Arden Hills next week.  And I say that because of the respect both teams have for eachother, and what a better way for the seniors to go out than a battle of the MIAC.  I dont understand what happened in Pella last weekend, but I know how it goes.  I was at Buena Vista week one and know how you feel. I asked  some of the players after the game following our first playoff victory a couple of weeks ago who was the TEAM, and they said by far the Johnnies, a true class act on the field and the best team they had faced.  My last year, and I want you all to know it has been a blessing to have been a part of the MIAC, and I hope we can get past Central and into Ohio.  Only the Johnnies have been this far, so I hope you can all give us a little Johnnie karma.  Pat and Kevin, it has been part of my daily plan at work to start on D3 football over the last 5 years, and I will see you next year to see how the Royals and Johnnies do in 08.  Go BU..  Go  MIAC!!
