Ok Pat, I did not read the IIAC board after the game or during the game, go figure. But now with TDT maybe there are 5. I was over at the NCAC board and didn't see many other NCAC posters today cheering for Wabash on Saturday.?

This might be the only board I can remember where posters aren't rallying behind their conference's postseason representative. Any win in the postseason elevates the entire conference, especially here where the MIAC has a shot to shed its one-trick pony status.

I interpret this as a shot at SJU fans.  I may be wrong, however I am sure I am not the only one who will see it that way.

Perhaps not, but I'm not the only one who has noticed, apparently.

Just talking about some, obviously, not the entire Johnnie nation.

And 56321, how many are actively cheering against Wabash? That's what I'm getting at. Let's make sure we're talking about the same thing here.

I've changed my mind about remaining neutral. I now plan on rooting really, really hard for whichever team whose fans deliver the most Hamm's to my garage door by noon on Friday.

There, if you want my support, you know what to do.

That would be a very shallow analysis of the situation.  For known and unknown  reasons, Bethel is the team the rest of the MIAC has a difficult time respecting.

As a counterpoint, look back to 2004.  Their was an outpouring of love and support for Concordia from all corners of the MIAC.

Just like karma on this board, I don't think it really matters much if Duffman or anyone else is pulling for or against Bethel.

I tend to pull for the team that beat my team, perhaps as some sort of validation.  I'm not sure who I'm pulling for yet.  On the long ride home Saturday I was thinking I would pull for Central, based on the logic above.  After reading some of the post game comments from Central posters I am leaning Bethel.

The Bethel posters, with one exception, have been gracious following their victories over SJU and UWEC.  I spoke to several Bethel players and parents after the SJU game.  They were polite, humble and gracious.  Starting turning my view of Bethel.

ROR...I think at one time in the early 2000's there was indeed more dislike for Bethel than anyone else, but I think there is now more dislike for the Oles than Bethel...might be a good poll question.

I also think Mr. Shoes is right on with his assessment of the Tommies matchup, its not as big a rivalry as it has been because of the apathy and lack of wins on their side, face it UST is now a hockey/basketball/baseball school...

Pat-point taken. You are correct, I didn't see other posters rooting against Wabash.
I kinda like Wabash-I wonder if they have a chance on Saturday?

Add another Johnnie to the Central bandwagon....

It sure has been nice that Freebird hasn't been posting much this season.

VOJ: You are kinda a celebrity these days.  You should hear Veek talk about your polish and grandeur.

Veek: Woody's in downtown Pella was rockin' on Friday night.  I had prolly a Level 2 in the morning.  You were about a Level 5 hence no bevies at the tailgate party for you and I'd say ROR Jr. was a 5 as well.

OAS: Call me today, we need to chat.  Make sure you clear the phone lines for when TDT calls in on Saturday...

More comment later.

I don't feel like a celebrity but thanks Veek for the comments...I enjoy all your banter on the boards...

Pat,

Your argument here is a little weak....I'm sure all the OAC teams cheer for Mount at this time of the year ::)

Quite simply, it is crazy to pull for another conference school to "represent" at this time of the year.  A successful playoff run (by a conference opponent) creates programmatic momentum that fuels recruiting.  That leads to better players.....  Why in the Hell would I want Bethel to have that?  The Bethel/SJU rivalry/hatred is no different than Michigan/OSU, Auburn/Alabama or any other big rivalry.  I would be willing to bet very few Michigan fans will be cheering for OSU in either the title game or the Rose Bowl.

I'm with Duff on this one.......Bethel (and their fans) needs to worry more about Central and less about whether or not the SJU faithful are willing to join them in a group hug :-*

If Bethel gets past Central (BIG IF), what awaits them next week in Ohio will require all the Jesus power they can muster......Even with that I could see Mount putting 60+ on them.

Personally, when the Johnnies are out of the playoffs I root for Mount Union and Larry Kehres.......great team...great guy/coach......PURE EXCELLENCE

Fins...in your honor I drank Hamm's all night at the High Life and Bait Shop on Friday night before the SJU-Central matchup...quite a tasty product, but I must stick with Miller Lite as my middle does not need to get bigger...too bad they don't make a Hamm's Lite

GoldandBlueBU

it really isn't a big deal who people are pulling for because it really doesn't matter.  We are all a bunch of fans who have no effect on the outcome of the game.  I was ulling for SJU on sat. because the rematch would have been fun and I'm pro miac, but that doesn't mean I'm an sju fan anytime they're not playing bethel.  Support who youwant, because it really makes absolutely no difference.

TDT: after predicting tha sju would beat bethel 42-10, and giving bethel a 1 in 15 chance against uwec, do you have any more insightful predictions for us?  your track record this year suggests you don't know $#!T.

Under the Truth in Hamm's Act you must get confirmation from frank that in fact Hamm's Light does exist.

I fell into the same trap a couple weeks ago.  ;D +k

Oh, but they do. But don't ask me if it's any good as there are some things even I won't do.
Thanks for the honor on Friday night. You already get daily karma from me, but I'd double it if I could. (Pat? Can you please take off these shackles?)

Attn Mayor: The 1st annual JohnnieFootball.com organizational meetings will be held at a date TBD following Christmas at your mancave.  There will be discussion, critiques, analysis, brainstorming, and copious amounts of Hamm's beer.  Today as President I am declaring BlueDevil Bob as the Official Guest of Honor and would hope he would graciously accept our invitation to moderate the discussions.

As my good friend Frank Rickard would say...Bethel College is Bad.

Fins-TDT would be at -10,000 quicker than you can says Hamms if restrictions were removed.
