Bird-thought you would have changed that avatar by now to maybe a scoreboard in the playoffs-seems beating SJU is more important than the playoffs. I can handle loosing to Bethel and getting into the playoffs each year.

Well I was waiting for us to meet SJU in the playoffs saturday but they seem to be missing  :-\

DutchFan2004

TDT,

Has anyone contacted you about that secret plan you have to beating Bethel?

Kilted Rat,

Where are you?  You back from Ohio yet?  Are you coming over to the game in Pella Saturday?  I hear from my son there are some fellow DMUer's coming.

Where the hell are they?  They are deeper into the playoffs than they ever have been, have a reasonable chance of making it another game and it's a Bethel ghost town in here.  No friggin' school spirit.

Don't blame him.

I notice a couple you take shots at me for this comment.  I also notice about 47 BU posts in a row...

Stupid is as stupid does, huh?

Aye.

As we're flirting with religious talk today and in need of a good joke, I offer this almost assuredly urban legend:

The following is supposedly an actual question given on a University of Washington chemistry mid-term.  The answer by one student was so "profound" that the professor shared it with colleagues, via the Internet, which is, of course,
why we now have the pleasure of enjoying it as well.

Bonus Question:

Is Hell exothermic (gives off heat) or endothermic (absorbs heat)?

Most of the students wrote proofs of their beliefs using Boyle's Law (gas cools when it expands and heats when it is compressed) or some variant.

One student, however, wrote the following:

First, we need to know how the mass of Hell is changing in time.  So we Need to know the rate at which souls are moving into Hell and the rate at which they are leaving.  I think that we can safely assume that once a soul gets to Hell, it will not leave.  Therefore, no souls are leaving.  As for how many souls are entering Hell, let's look at the different Religions that exist in the world today.  Most of these religions state that if you are not a member of their religion, you will go to Hell.  Since there is more than one of these religions and since people do not belong to more than one religion, we can project that all souls go to Hell.  With birth and death rates as they are, we can expect the number of souls in Hell to increase exponentially.

Now, we look at the rate of change of the Volume in Hell because Boyle's Law states that in order for the temperature and pressure in Hell to stay the same, the volume of Hell has to expand proportionately as souls are added.

This gives two possibilities:

1. If Hell is expanding at a slower rate than the rate at which souls enter Hell, then the temperature and pressure in Hell will increase until all Hell breaks loose.

2. If Hell is expanding at a rate faster than the increase of souls in Hell, then the temperature and pressure will drop until Hell freezes over. So which is it?

If we accept the postulate given to me by Teresa during my Freshman year that, "It will be a cold day in Hell before I sleep with you", and take into account the fact that I slept with her last night, then number 2 must be true, and thus I am sure that Hell is exothermic and has already frozen over.  The corollary of this theory is that since Hell has frozen over, it follows that it is not accepting any more souls and is therefore, extinct...leaving only Heaven thereby proving the existence of a divine being which explains why, last night, Teresa kept shouting "Oh my God."

THIS STUDENT RECEIVED THE ONLY "A"

Yeah, 47, or 3. You're definitely playing out the stupid part well.

Ah, see?  No proper deference.  And I guess I can add they are selective literalists, if the situation suits.

TDT: You're always yapping about hating bethel because of delusional posters. Are you kidding me? Ever since I've started reading this board you've come off as the cockiest, biggest jacka$$ that posts here, yet your thoughts and words in no way alter my thoughts or respect for SJU. Get a life.

Gotta love that.
If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

ozjohnnie,

BU5758: I hate Bethel because...of delusional posters like Freebird.  It should be painfully obvious the rest of the MIAC dislikes/hates Bethel for a reason.
Is that really the only reason you're in here?  To wind up TDT and Duff?  Not likely.

Does anyone else remember who was calling for Steve Johnson to be fired after the loss to Buena Vista this year, saying that he wasn't a coach capable of taking Bethel to the "next level"?  He also tried to defend the students who stomped on the SJU logo after the '06 game, if I remember correctly

Freebird, it's my privilege to nominate you for MIAC PP Turkey of the Year.  All those in favor?

Central Fans-
I respect SJU, their football team, and most of their fans but they tend to go overboard in the picture they paint of BU football.  Let me encourage you to meet as many Bethel players, coaches, and fans as you can this weekend.  Then talk to players from your team after the game to see what they thought about playing BU.  If after that you still think we're a bunch of hypocritical, Bible-thumping crotch grabbers then so be it.  I doubt you'll find that to be the case, though. ;)

I'm in favor.  That was a horrible call on my part.

Freebird and other Bethel fans...you better enjoy the ride because you never know when you will be on it again...you are in unchartered territory right now...I harken back to my first Johnnies playoff run, the magical year of 2000, wish I would have enjoyed that more, now to be honest, I don't think you will get to Salem, but I think, if you get the breaks and dominate the line of scrimage, you can beat Central, but they are playing their best football when it matters most, right now.

As for calling for Steve Johnson's job earlier this year...I trust, freebird, that you got the rehab help you needed...its not like he lost 10 in a row to his rival or has taken the program from decent to mediocre to apathetic...he lost one game while trying to figure out who was going to carry the mail(Flannery) and other leaders on offense...Bethel got better because coach Johnson never wavered and they came around.

Enjoy it because things can change in an instant...

Ahhhhh......., you must not have received the memo. There is a reason why TDT is the President of the Classless A$$hole Club. He took the advice of his grandpa, who said "TDT pick one thing you really want to be good at and practice it everyday, soon you'll be the best in the world"  you see grandpa TDT wanted young TDT to be a world-class Texas Hold'em player, but TDT knew he would have a better shot at being a Classless A$$hole :D
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

I think the J's will go as far as Brady Brink, Ryan Leiser and Chris Schwartz will take them...Brink is a candidate for MIAC MVP, he is a do it all player who makes other guys better...Leiser needs to be consistent from the outside, he tore it up against Morris, but was 1 for 14 vs Concordia St. Paul in a scrimage...Schwartz is a stud freshman...really plays older than he is is and really heady...he will be fun to watch...the real key might be Nick Johnson a pass-first point guard who is very quick...it will be a fun year.

Tomorrow's game against the Cobbers is very important with a road date at St. Mary's Saturday(j's have dropped 4 of last 5 there) and home dates with Carleton and Gustavus next week...
