NWS Forecast for Pella:

Saturday: Snow and sleet likely before noon, then periods of rain, freezing rain and sleet. High near 32. Wind chill values as low as 5. Windy, with a southeast wind between 17 and 24 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.

Saturday Night: Periods of rain. Low around 29. Windy, with a southeast wind 17 to 21 mph becoming west. Winds could gust as high as 26 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

:o Yikes!  Wishing all safe travels this weekend, and it sounds like BU folks would be smart to make hotel reservations in Pella just in case it gets REALLY ugly.

I'll echo that, travel safe if you're heading down to the game, Pella actually has quite a few hotels for a town it's size...if we do get stuck in Pella Dr. Salamis and the Sports Page could be hoppin!  It should make for one interesting game though!

Better move it to the UniDome.  They still have that thing down there?

The Dome is being occupied this Saturday, Northern Iowa is in the D1AA playoffs

Pretty solid to have to Iowa teams in the National Quarterfinals! I think UNI plays in he afternoon so if its icy enough maybe we move the game up there for a 7 or 8pm kickoff? I would think Bethel wouldnt want our passing game indoors though!

Interviews up on the BU website. Wetzell though...4 Johnnie turnovers inside the redzone, didnt you watch film, it was 2 and one was on a 4th down hail mary at the end of the first half, the other was a great break on the ball by our MLB. Turnovers will be key in this game!

Quote from: Pat Coleman on November 26, 2007, 11:15:58 AMAny win in the postseason elevates the entire conference, especially here where the MIAC has a shot to shed its one-trick pony status.

Pat,

Your comment above from the other day had me review playoff results referenced above.  The first thing I would like to point out is the record listed for the MIAC on the front page is inaccurate.  It should be 25-13, not the 23-13 listed.  That would be a winning percentage of .658 moving it ahead of the NWC for second place.  That said, the SJU record for that period of time is 20-7 for a .741 winning percentage.  The 20 wins is more than any other conference minus Mount Union.  During that time SJU accounts for 80% of MIAC playoff wins while Mount Union (31-3) accounts for 74% of the OAC wins.  On a percentage basis both conferences must have one-trick ponies ;D

I'll have to check it in the offseason. Can't add two wins without adding two losses elsewhere.

Pat,

In the words of Lee Corso....."Not so fast my friend" no need to add two loses....simple addition error on the wins side.  Knowing that you are extremely busy this time of year and with my Johnnies out of the playoffs I was able to do the research for you pro bono  ;)  Actually still had it from last night:

1999- SJU wins vs UWSP and Central
         SJU lost to PLU
         Record 2-1
2000- SJU wins vs Stout, PLU, Central and HSU
         SJU lost to Mount Union
         Record 4-1
         Bethel lost to PLU
         Record 0-1
2001- SJU wins vs St. Nubs, UWSP and PLU
         SJU lost to MUC
         Record 3-1
         Bethel lost to UWSP
         Record 0-1
2002- SJU wins vs Redlands, Coe and Linfield
         SJU lost to Trinity
         Record 3-1
2003- SJU wins vs St. Nubs, Linfield, RPI and MUC
         Record 4-0
         Bethel lost to Wartburg
         Record 0-1
2004- Concordia wins vs Menlo and Wartburg
         Concordia lost to Oxy
         Record 2-1
2005- SJU wins vs Monmouth
         SJU lost to WW
         Record 1-1
         Concordia wins vs Coe
         Concordia lost vs Linfield
         Record 1-1
2006- SJU wins vs Central and Whitworth
         SJU lost vs WW
         Record 2-1
         Bethel lost vs UWLX
         Record 0-1
2007- SJU wins vs Redlands
         SJU lost vs Central
         Record 1-1
Bethel wins vs Concordia (W) and UWEC
         Record 2-0

Add it all up SJU 20-7, Concordia 3-2, Bethel 2-4= 25-13 for the MIAC

Hope this helped.

Pat Coleman

Except that if you add up the entire standings, they balance out. So if I add two wins somewhere, two losses have to be affected as well.

I don't have time to do all of that math this week. Maybe later.

Pat,
You ought to have KMack do it -- there can't be much going on at his day (night) job if they are devoting SO much space -- and a front page photo in sports -- to a dog show ... :)

Kare 11 posted some interviews with Dahlman, Carr and Johnson on their site.  Looks like they're practicing on the fieldturf at Mounds View as Central must have the fake stuff too.

AO;  If you ever made it south of Roseville or GAC you'd already know this about Central.  Just like TC and TDT, you prolly think there's still real grass at Klaas Sadium too.

The weather forcast could be the great equalizer...if it happens to become ugly like they are calling for...edge to Bethel...

Dutch Hawk...if you're going to be harsh on the interview portion...get your crap together...they didn't get the Johnnie film, just as you didn't get the UW-Eau Claire film...Everything is on hand a week ahead of time...They were making their assessments based on the stats sheet...

Anyone know when Alma was scheduled for SJU next season?  I thought we had a 2-year deal with Marietta.

Duff,

Are you sure about Alma?  I talked to TDT and he told me that John Jr. was trying to line up St. Ben's 2nd place powder puff team to take over the Marietta slot.

They're still tougher than Linfield.

Actually there might be some truth to that.  TDT has told me that he was rolled for his lunch money a number of times by the girls of St. Ben's.  I guess they could smell an easy mark a mile away.
