I am an optomist.  I think there is always a chance to do something.  If they get bad weather the way Bethel rolled us that would be one chance I like them.

Any Bethel fan looking for a ride to Alliance on Thursday coming back on Sunday or Monday?

To amend  a previous post, and after having it being pointed out by a Raider fan, I missed Micheli as a first team Academic All America with a double major in "real" academic fields, and one of only six Juniors on the first two teams. Congrats to him.

SUMMIT!!!!!

that's real big of you to slam on the other kids.  Sorry that they didn't go to a private school and major in biology, chemistry, or any of your other real academic fields.  Exactly what have you done that makes you think you can be so smug as to rip on them?

In honor of OleFan, who being from Texas knows that everything is bigger in Texas, a joke:

A Texan farmer goes to Australia for a vacation. There he meets an Aussie farmer and gets talking. The Aussie shows off his big wheat field and the Texan says, "Oh! We have wheat fields that are at least twice as large".

Then they walk around the ranch a little, and the Aussie shows off his herd of cattle. The Texan immediately says, " We have longhorns that are at least twice as large as your cows".

The conversation has, meanwhile, almost died when the Texan sees a herd of kangaroos hopping through the field. He asked, "And what are those"?

The Aussie replies with an incredulous look, "Don't you have any grasshoppers in Texas"?

One thing that somewhat scares me is Johnson does has a tendency to make bad play calls.

I.E. going for it against Central on 4th and 1 on their own 28 yard line.

Wetzell fumbled, Central stopped and took over and scored their first TD.

That type of bone head call won't fly against MUC and could lead to trouble.

oAs.

Great job on the broadcast, oAs.

The call you refer to would be a head scratcher in any other context, but consider the following:  Bethel has had issues with getting punts blocked this year.  A 14 yard long snap in the slop was no guarantee, and Ness would have been punting into the wind.  4th and short with Wetzell behind the Hogs isn't that big of a risk no matter where on the field you are.  Were it not for the fumbled snap, gotta think that's a 4th down picked up.

Holy Crap.....

Had our Golf League Christmas Party last night, and am struggling with a Level 2 right now!

Have to present our school crisis plan to the staff at 7:30, but still trying to revive my liver :-\

1st congrats to Bethel for winning the West region. It's always quite an accomplishment to make it to the "Final Four". Safe travels to all heading to Alliance. Weather should not be a factor with game time temps around 35 degrees and the field play surface always in great shape.
Light travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.

Just how good is the Bethel's O line...for that matter what's the skinnie on the D line...So goes the lineman...so goes the game.

Since almost anything is theoretically possible, the answer would be yes (but very very small).  The more relevant question is "what would it take" for Bethel to beat MUC?  Some posters have speculated that a combination of bad weather, Bethel strategy and loss of poise by MUC could be the perfect storm needed.  I think they are being too optimistic and that it would take much more than that.  Maybe a debilitating virus that renders both the MUC first and second teams unable to play might do it. :-\

And for you Bethel supporters ready to smite me, this opinion is not based on my opinion of your team, just the superior ability and coaching for MUC.  I think Bethel's chances of beating MUC are about the same as SJU's would be.

And since there is a statistical possibility I am wrong, I will be the first to jump up and down cheering if Bethel should win.

As far as the "eat up the clock" gameplan goes... there was a team a few years back who played Mount in the playoffs (I am drawing a blank right now on what school that was) who ran a possession offense.  If memory serves me, they attempted less than 5 passes a game the entire season and came into Mount and got destroyed.  Any posters on here who remember what I'm talking about and can help me out with the school, I'd appreciate it (Toph, this is usually your area of expertise).  With Mount's quick strike ability, I really don't think that possession offense is going to do the trick.  If you can keep the game close, then possession is a good plan, but you are putting an awful lot of pressure on your defense when using that gameplan.
They should have practiced harder.
