I just don't think he can admit BU is a better team this year than St. John's.

Of course a person can admit BU was the best performing team this season.  Even TDT isn't that disconnected from reality.  Is BU the "better" team?  Of course not.  SJU could take last in the MIAC and they would still be the best team in the conference.  Why?  Because they're SJU and SJU is better.  They do things the best way, even if they don't always have the better result.  They have players that are best people you can have in the game, even if they don't have the most athletic talent.

So did BU have the better season?  Yes.  Are they the better team?  Never.

There you go, channeling Lou Holtz again.

Well said Oz.  OAS is just trying to stir up sh!t with me.  I spoke with him on the phone last night and he better watch it as I've got lots of dirt on him.  In fact, I did congratulate bethel on beating SJU.  However, I will not, can not ever "cheer" for brothel u.  This isn't about respect for the MIAC or whatnot.  The MIAC gets plenty of respect because of the Johnnies.  That is a fact.  Bethel is helping themselves more than anything else by having a nice run in the NCAA playoffs.

KR,

Where have you gone to?  Those studies keeping you busy?  Any thing I should clue the son in on?  This isn't like you to be AWOL this long unless it was self imposed.

While my dislike for Bethel has been well documented even I took offense to this.  Everyone who I know that dislikes SJU (and GASP!!! there are a lot of people who do) dislike them because attitudes like this post.  i.e. SJU is better just because they're SJU.  Wow! seriously drink more koolaid, donkey!
I like to picture my Jesus singing lead vocals for Lynard Skynard with like a band of Angels behind him, and I'm in the front row HAMMERED drunk!!!

What solid proof do you have that they do things a better way than anyone else.  What solid proof do you have they have better people.  Christ we all know your wins to loss record is outstanding but come on.  I have been around 3 college footbal programs either coaching or playing.  Each one of them did the some things differnt but they were mostly the same.  They were trying to win football games and keep climbing up the mountian.

SJU bring kids in based off there tradition, I will give you that.  Kids will come there only because they know they can play for or stand on the sidelines of a winning team.

All I can say is with statements like that I would expect you to be some pompus millionar sitting in a valley state in wine country, CA.  Hob nobbing around with your cornies in your BMW's eating cheese and looking down on the rest of us poor working slobs.

Trust a GAC alum to fly the flag of rationality.  No attitude of 'my school right or wrong' at that place.   Oh no.  It's interesting that you framed your attitude in terms of what you disliked, while I framed mine in terms of what I like.  No positivism in your life, I guess.

If drinking kool-aid means I take pride in an institution that consistently generates good men, not to mention good teams, then pass the jug.  If drinking kool-aid means I can see and take pride in the fact that SJU has a football program and institutional culture that is inherently better than anything else on offer in the region, then pass the jug.  But if giving up the kool-aid means I must admit John is a figurehead, an all mens school is odd and that SJU is less than the perfect fit for me, then no thanks.  You can keep your drinks.  I'm not interested, jackass.

Hmmm... solid proof other than results?  I have no doubt that there is nothing that would convince you.  Amazing that you take offense in my pride of SJU.  I also love my family and think my kids are the best.  Should I abandon them as well to gain your approval (as I have no "solid" proof they really are great)?

And as to the class envy crap, do "poor working slobs" not take pride in where they have been and the great things they have been associated with?

You all think your schools are better, that's fine.  I don't begrudge your opinions.  Celebrate them and take pride.  It's just a shame you didn't go to SJU so you could see that you are wrong... ;)

I love my family and BV as well.  You do not see me standing on the street telling everyone I have the best wife in the world.

There is a huge difference between school pride/spirit and arrogance.

So, how can us chardonnay sipping beamer drivers tell the difference between pride and arrogance?  Wait a second, I gotta crack open a new bottle before I can take the effort to read your response.  OK... I'm ready now.

And if guy can't say here, on the MIAC PP boards, that he thinks his school is the best, where can he?  Locked in a closet?

(And are you really taking this conversation seriously?)
