Will the game be broadcast - TV or online?  With the end of the D1 regular season this would be a great time to get D3 on television.  I suppose the 1AA playoffs will be on, but I would love to see D3 on the tube this week.

From what I have gathered thus far, since playing Augsburg, Bethel has faced  1) SJU - on a day where AK11 struggled through the air, and the passing attack was not really a threat.   2) Conc. Wisc - a team who's strength is not its air attack.  3) UWEC - okay, maybe a decent air game,  4) Central on a day where weather took away the air game.

I want VERY badly for Bethel to beat the Big Bad Wolf.  My concern is that MUC might be the first real show of a dangerous passing game.

However, it could be stated that the reason for AK11's bad day was in part due to Bethel's D that day.  The UWEC team comes out of the WIAC where it has been the tradition to just play offense or to "just go deep!"  (I can say that 'cuz when I was at UWEC we had 4 verts out of 3 different formations!)

I think it will help immensely to have Wetzel back, as his head, heart, and legs are a tough thing to replace.  I do feel the "speed of the MUC" d-line will be comparable to SJU's D-front, and therefore, the Brothel O-line should still be able to operate at normal function.  The Royal receivers are also good at sustaining blocks down field and could spring Flannery for some long runs.  However, I think Bethel needs to employ the Defense by Offense strategy again this week, and keep Kmic et all off the field as much as possible.

Get the big win.  Go Royals!
Out of order, I'll show you out of order! You don't know what out of order is, Mr Task! I'd show you but I'm too old, I'm too tired, and I'm too f----n blind. If I were the man I was 5 years ago, I'd take a FLAMETHROWER to this place. Out of order, who the hell do you think you're talking to?

Steve Johnson on PA & Dubay today.  Dubay and Justin Gaard are breaking down SJU/MUC 2003 as I type this.

Gaard:  "I don't know why I was cheering for St. John's but I was really sweating them."

Dubay:  "I'm not a great Division III football mind, but Bethel better really pack a lunch if they're playing Mount Union."

let's get it right...Dubay is an idiot...afterall his biggest athletic achievement is bat boy for the Twins or finking on Twins players with girlfriends...take your pick

Notes from the Steve Johnson interview:

--Johnson is not very good at listening to a question, comprehending it, and directly answering it.

--Sounds like Wetzell's a go.

--Johnson claims that no one's tried to "punch Mount Union in the mouth" and that teams fall behind early and get out of their gameplans, so Bethel's just going to go and run right at them.

--Division III is better than Division II.

--Wetzell's getting married in two weeks and he hopes everything's working.

--"Flannery's not big but he's built."

--They were inspired to beat Central to honor St. John's and the MIAC.

--Jesus has installed Bethel as a 6 1/2 point favorite.

I will take the points...

He also pissed on the University of Wisconsin Hockey team bus and got fired from FSN for mocking the referees during intermission of a game last season.  Let's not sell the guy short.

Wasn't it a double whammy? I think it was Tony Hull, the leading receiver.

Yeah, you're right.  Punter sounds funnier, though.

Hull didn't throw any picks against Bethel.....can't say that for very many qb's who have faced the Bethel D this year.  In fact--only Hamline with Leary and Schmigel has that honor.

repete

He was 5 for 19 ... not many passes were catchable by anybody on the field ...

AO

were you at the game repete?  I was.  I was also there to watch Kofoed look much worse except for the single weber td.

Hey Some punters are former starting quarterbacks!! (wink wink!)  But, definitely point taken.  Probably not a juggernaut of an aerial attack!

AO - very good point.  That d-backfield does come up with big plays when they need them.  My biggest concern is the way my squad put up a lot of yards VS. the Bethel D, and that is without D3 football pre-season all americans Micheli, Garcon, and Kmic.  Also, the Bethel D will not have the luxury of just defending the pass.  MUC runs the ball fairly well also.  Again, I hope to be completely wrong here.  This is not me wanting to attack Bethel - I'll be cheering for them just as loudly as I can.  However, it seems to me this will be the first chance Bethel will get against an offense that can throw the ball.  Then again, hopefully the weather will continue to deteriorate in Ohio, and the conditions will be comparable to Pella last weekend!

Go Royals!

you had to bring up the eagle envy, right after I had decided in my mind to comment that the Bethel D has faced a good passing attack this season....the Augsburg Auggies.
