Spackler -

I got your PM and have no idea how to respond to it (still a rookie at this), but to answer your question...No, I can't make it to the game tomorrow.  Company Christmas Party >:(

I will be listening/watching online though...Its tough after being at or a part of every game for the last decade or so.  Its killing me  >:( >:(

BU;  It's called being a weenie.
I figured I would get that from someone...I can't deny it.  I would rather be in Alliance.

Duff why are you so angry?

I'm not angry.  I haven't even ripped on UWW for weeks!

Why are you so drunk? ;)

Now its more like hungover now,  The only reason you aren't ripping on WW is because Bethel is still playing.  That's got to be driving you a little crazy... I think that's where the anger is coming from

Just be happy you guys got put into the North...all you shown is what Mount has proved all along...you can win the North as easy as you can the East...sorry fellas but the only region that has any balance is the West...look at how Mount rolled through the East and WW stormed the North...we all know the South is weak...Seriously I think Central, Bethel and SJU could have rolled through the other regions, too bad there is not open seeding

Dusty...

I gotta wonder if you would have lost your good standing by traveling to watch the Royals...just kidding...I almost kinda would like to see it in person too, with CSTV would pick  up the DII and DIII semi-finals or ESPNU it would be good football.  I see the I-AA semi's are on tonight and tomorrow

VOJ;  It's tough to maintain credibility here... getting kicked off the plane is another clear example of the lack of hospitality with the BU folks.  I'll keep busy tomorrow following the vast array of games we have to select from.

I am not a big Kersten fan, and this article she illustrates why-- here she shows her true colors.  She often rails about the lack of morality in society and in politicians, and now UST isn't Catholic enough for her.

Oh that's why I like KK... a non_completely_leftist voice in an utterly leftist paper.

We can agree to disagree about Kersten-- she is entitled to her opinion, especially as a columnist, and I am not going to get into the benefits of the Strib (is the PP that much better?), and PC has in the past requested we stay away from politics here, so I will respect that as well.    But a good columnist asks questions of all peoples, not just the ones they dislike, and while I am not going to sit on a soapbox and say that Mr. Coleman does a much better job at it, I don't see Ms. Kersten doing much of that.  She usually spews some of the kool-aid she drinks too much for my taste.  (Again, not to say that Coleman doesn't do that himself-- but I have read him attacking his brother in his column...which is on a different level).

My problem with her beef is that it is founded in idealism instead of reality.  What purpose does the archbishop serve on a board of trustees anyway?  A guiding moral compass?  Ok, sure.  But it isn't as though the archbishop is actively maintaining control over the curriculum even with a seat on the board of trustees.  Did she forget that, even without the seat on the board the Archbishop still controls the University under ex cordae ecclessae?  Apparently, she forgot to mention that point.

UST is at a point in time where it needs to follow through on its long term strategy of growth.  It made a decision 20 years ago to expand its educational options to the adult ed program or struggle in its scholastic life playing catch up.  As a result, it is a secular institution in many of its programs-- and the archbishop assisted in making that determination-- and as a result, UST Inc. is blowing all the other private schools in the state out of the water.

I suspect her real concern is seeing UST cave on issues like the Tutu matter, and seeing student behavior like that at that graduation ceremony.  But in order to be all things to all people, you have to compromise a bit of your core focii-- and while it would be nice to have one singular mindset of its students, it is absolutely unrealistic.  Hence why we continue to make fun of BU and its previous rules-- which were, in part, intended toward preserving a common-minded community of students.  Even BU has opened that up!

Be honest--how many of us would have gone to SJU if it (1.) were entirely single-sex, (2.) required school 6 days a week, and (3.) required attendance at all prayer times?

Johnnie_esq - it's clear you're much more educated on this topic than I, and probably everyone on this board for that matter (especially since there are virtually no Tommies - kind of like their attendance at FB games), and I'm certainly not trying to argue with you as to the direction of UST, but you've made my point (which is not contrary to yours) that, whether one likes it or not, chasing the Almighty Dollar is a higher priority to them than following the Almighty.

BTW, In my opinion, Bethel has made some decisions in that same vein.

BUguy,

Having played and coached in a number of DIII semifinals over the years I can tell you that NOTHING that happens at the company Christmas Party can compare to the excitement and energy of watching your team in the semis or the Stagg (being very politically correct here ;D ).  Go to next year's Christmas Party.

I skipped the last good weekend of hunting elk here in Montana for our Christmas party last week and everyone that went took a nice elk...bad decision.

Get your A$$ on one of the planes, trains or automobiles going to Alliance and support Bethel---you will not regret it.........plus you never know if/when you will be back in the same situation.
