Since we are the subject of poerhouse teams.  What does PP think about a match up between MUC and Grand Valley State.  They are close in promiximity and might already be playing each other.  What are anyones thoughts on the outcome of this game.

I don't believe they play each other, at least in recent memory. Here is a copy of the 2007 schedule and results from Ric's site http://www.mtunionfootball.com/2007season/07schedule.htm

It may be an interesting game, but I don't see Grand Valley State doing it. MUC has nothing to lose playing up a division (see UWW vs. SCSU 2007 along with others) but GVS has everything to lose if they are upset by a D3 school.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

I agree completley.  I would say GVS loosing to MUC would be the equivilent of App. State beating Michigan.  Nothing against App. State, they are solid and proved it again on ESPN Friday night.

For the fans sake it would be very cool to see this game happen.  Does is anyone giving UWW a snow balls chance in the Stagg Bowl.  I mean Danny Jones is a stud, but MUC seems unbeatable.  But as my mother always said any given team and win on any given day.

I believe this is the best mount team I've seen in the 14 or so years I've been watching. Can UWW win? Sure... if they play a near flawless game and MUC has an off day. Assuming both teams play too there abilities I see MUC winning handily.
My humble opinion. THREEPETE THREEPETE,THREEPETE THREEPETE, THREEPETE THREEPETE, THREEPETE THREEPETE!!!!!!!!!!(threepete x 3)

Yea but Grand Valley State could still win a national championship with a loss to MUC.  They could probably lose another game and still make the playoffs.

Michigan had no shot of winning a national championship with a loss to App St. and I would say they have more to lose from that loss.

You should cross post his on the WIAC board.  They might care for this opinion.

Most years I would agree with you regarding this.  I would have liked to seen how things shook out of Mich beats OSU and their only loss was to App State.  I would assume they would have went to the title game.  Now this year was bonkers so I agree with your logic based off a normal year.

Non the less it would still be entertaining for the fan sake.

Correction, Michigan got monkey-stomped at the Big House by Oregon as well.

I understand that, I was merely suggesting under this year system, what if their only loss was to App State.

That game was ugly as well.

you guys are speculating on things that will never happen...I just can't see Mount scheduling up, unless they can't find anyone to play them, and then if you are a powerhouse DII team you would probably not want to face Mount anyway...

And if you think there will be a change in the outcome regarding the MUC/UWW outcome this year...think again...its MUC's sandbox and we are all just playing in it until they kick sand in our eye and its time to leave...

Plenty of d3 teams play d2 teams.  I actually think a win vs MUC would make a d2 team better in the eyes of many people, including some d2 playoff selection people depending on the team.

And yea, it would have been interesting to see Michigan with only one loss.....

What's the latest on the UST job and its potential candidates?

Saw something in the Star Trib where Fritz said they were hoping for a January hire.  Are they already down to some semblance of a finalists list?  Who might be on that list?
