Chewie, I don't know that I've seen a Mount fan at this point I would call worried.  I think maybe more along the lines of 'healthy respect'.  I'm not expecting a blowout like some folks are; I actually think that UWW has the potential to match up well with Mount this year.  But, I don't think it will be a nail biter, either.  I went on record earlier (maybe even this board, I'm not sure) as saying I think a one posession game is likely.  I'm not as sure about that now.  I don't know why, but I'm thinking more of a two posession, 10-14 pt. win for Mount.

Personal story that is dead-on accurate:  In 1995, one of my ex-girlfriends, Brice and I were stopped at an intersection in Bloomington and were discussing how men were better drivers than women

Now thems is fighting words!! :D Everytime I see someone on the interstate driving 90+ miles an hour and cutting across 2 lanes to (just barely) make the exit, it is a male! Everytime I have seen someone back up/make an illegal u-turn because they have missed their turn, it has been a male. I think there are plenty of bad drivers of both genders! 8)

You should probably spend more time looking where you are going and less time eyeballing all these men as you drive.  Then we wouldn't have as many situations like those that chewey was referring too... :o

Chewey, Just to clarify; were you and Brice on your way to the bookstore at Normandale Community College to purchase a Women's Studies text book for said former girlfriend?  ::)
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

C'mon, let's get real here... the separation will be closer to 4 touchdowns.

When a guy does something wrong, he has to apologize for doing something wrong; and when the woman is wrong, the guy has to apologize for getting upset at what she did wrong. It's a no-win situation.

Just to correct you fins, as I'm still married and remember how this works.  It's an all-win, not no-win, situation.  You were looking at the from the man's point of view.  Oops.
Ha! That was Retagent that said that, but it could've been me. ;) I tell my GF now when she's not with me, how will I know what I'm doing wrong?

Why is a divorce so expensive?
Because it's worth it.

If my ex-wife didn't toss and turn in her sleep, we never would've had the kids.

I remember last time we did it, I turned to her after and said, "Gee honey, that was great, especially the part where you moved."

"No really," I said, "Who were you thinking of?"

Thank you very much. You're a wonderful audience. I'll be here all week. Thank you.  8)

Come on, Fins - you know the saying - a woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle.

I posted this way funny post, and when I came back to read it and laugh at myself, it was gone. It ain't easy being me.
If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

Chewey,

When I read this post earlier it appeared as though you were sharing with many of us that you and Brice had been an item back in 1995.....however upon further review you carefully excluded the highlighted extra comma.....if added it changes the entire meaning of your post and explains the frequent trips to the bookstores on college campuses.

You're right Redtooth.  J.P. Earls and Fr. Alfred would be disappointed in me.  Don't tell anyone.  Why do you think our other friend is called "Big Fella"?

She knew the only book she needed to study was a cookbook.  She had been properly conditioned to acknowledge that any women's studies book is nothing more than petty, incendiary hate speech.  Womens' studies, minority studies, gender studies.........are these just today's versions of "underwater basket weaving" and "time and space" majors?  What ever happened to English, History, Chemistry, Biology, Philosophy?  Oral Roberts U, here my kids come.

I commend the showing of respect as all teams are entitled to that, even Linfield.  But I have to agree with Dusty on this one.  It will be a relative blow out.  It will not be a Bethel-style blowout or a 1993 SJU-style blowout, but it will a 4 touchdown game.

Chewey - I saw the UWW/UMHB game and was quite impressed with D Jones' Ability to throw, both accurately and with a little mustard. He throws exceptionally well on the run, and can take off when necessary. Whether he will be able to do either effectively this Saturday is in question.

I'd wager there's no more than one Bethel fan who doesn't want to see Mount win by at least 4 scores, and that one happens to be the AD at UWW.  I'd like to see UWW win for Dr. Plinske's sake, but if (or when ;)) Mount wins I'd just assume it be by a Monkey-Stomp.

jaypeter

My original post may have been on another board, so I'll go back to my first thoughts on this game.  Because it appears that UWW has the potential to match up well the few and minor weaknesses for MUC, I could see this game staying somewhat close.  With the weather they are expecting, it could reduce the effectiveness of the MUC receivers and even to some extent the scrambling ability of Micheli...not complete eliminate it, but reduce it.  UWW has already shown that they can be effective in sloppy weather.

All that said, and while I feel the game will be closer than most think, I can see this game turning into an easy win with MUC taking control of the game with a late score in the second quarter, and putting it away around the middle of the third.  I don't think a 3+ TD win is out of question, I just don't feel it will be that way.  This will be the best defense and the best offense MUC has faced this year.

I like what another poster had to say about score of the game...the lower the point total, the more it favors UWW.  Poor weather conditions and a pretty good defense could hold the Mount offense in check.  But, I still think the MUC defense is going to be a bit too much for UWW to overcome.

My one caveat...I haven't seen either team play this year.  Just one game of Guilford College.
