What exactly is this "karma" business?  I presume it's rating one's posts/popularity or something, right?  How is it done?  Just curious.  Thanks.

Chewy once you hit 200 posts, you have the power.  Below ones screen name it has applaud or smite.  Basically after you read the post you can either give the person karma for making good statements or take karma away based off of bad posting or offensive termanology.  It is quite interesting at times.

Ah, bugger.  The boredom of the after-season sets in...  What to do now?  Work?

A question on the Vikes: Did Childres plan this or is he plain dumb lucky?  For the first time since I was a kid, the Vikes are really exciting.  To the point that I can't wait to see what happens each weekend.  Tough, ground based, good fun.  Even the hey-days of the late 90's were tainted because of Denny and his sucky tendency to build teams that choked.

Agree about how D2 has fallen in recent years. The NCC used to be the best d2 conference in the nation, but with NDSU, SDSU, and Northern Colorado leaving - and with UND and USD to follow - it's obviously been decimated, from football to women's basketball.

Still, they must still be getting pretty good players at the D2 schools in the midwest considering a 4-7 SCSU team handled Whitewater by 10 points.

I think this was the last year of the NCC. The remainder of the conference is joining the Northern Sun from what I've heard. Very interesting.

Anyone heard anymore information on the St. Thomas or Luther jobs?

Thanks much for the explanation.  It sounds much better than the 1 through 5 star approach that we used to have here.

A local station is showing"Santa Claus Conquers the Martians" - well known as one of the worst movies ever made but now apparently a cult classic.  You can probably pick it up on the Comedy Channel.

Could we argue that Denny was a choke artists and could not prepare the teams to their fullest potential.  I think of some of the Vikes team with Cullpepper and Moss about the same as the Buffalo Bills in the Super Bowl.  Hold on...Wait...Stay tuned...Oh wait its a win they are choking on ;D

This has been something very interesting to watch.  If I am not mistaken NDSU was not all the great lets say 5 years ago.  What I mean by not great is that they were not contending for the d2 national title year in and year out.  They were one uped by the Grand Valley State, and NW Missouri State.  (Note they blew it when they had Valdosta on the ropes).  The reason that I am saying this is that I spent a year in the NSIC and that was the year the NSDU announced that they were follwing suit with N. Colorado and going 1AA.  Everyone I talked to was some what skeptical on wheather they could hold their own.  Growing up in the state of IA one could not help but follow the progression of UNI and their rise to a top team in 1AA.  I never thought that NDSU would be able to hang with them and its obvious they are on this level now.  I would like to know what they put into the kool-aid to make this transition and make this transition go very well.  On a side note, I do not know if we will see the same results for the USD.  Anyone have any insight into how they made this change happen so well?

There are a couple of reasons for NDSU being where the are today.  First was the hiring of Craig Bohl.  He started at NDSU the first year of the transition and in his first year, took a team that the previous season was 2-8 in D2 and went 8-3.  He is now I believe 44-11 in his first 5 seasons at NDSU.  The other reason were the first groups of players Bohl recruited to NDSU.  They came to NDSU knowing full well that they would never have the chance to play for a national championship.

Honest to goodness true story.  So I'm sleeping away last night and have this dream where Mount Union is playing a playoff game at St. John's and it was really cold, like yesterday was.  And, I'm a bit late getting to my seat for the kickoff and I have to climb up to my seat, and the field is elevated, just like Williams Arena, so I'm looking just above field level.  We kick to Mount and they take it to their own 40.  First play from scrimmage and they give it to Nate Kmic who just zooms right up the middle, wearing a full red Johnnie sideline parka with the KKK top hood.  Tails flying in the wind, the whole Johnnie team staring back at him after he went by.  Then I woke up. :o

My dream last night?     Spooning with this very hot babe, skin to skin,  but had to get out of bed as my girlfriend, Jennifer Lopez, was outside looking for me.

I woke up with a big smile on my face.   Still have it.

Maybe you guys can answer this question....

Is North Dakota State 1-AA and if they are, why didnt they make the 1-AA playoffs this year?
Yes they are. This is the last year of the "initiation" where they are not able to participate in the play-offs. Watch out next year.

It was sweet having them beat the hopeless Gophers this year in Minneapolis. Their squad has a lot of Minnesota kids who were not offered a scholarship at the University of Minnesota. Now with both NDSU & UND along with SDSU & USD are going 1-AA the "braintrust" at the U of M has cut off any hope of getting those kids after years of snubbing them (expecting them to walk on at the U of M). The Gophers have their work cut out for them after 40 years of a crap program & now all the surrounding states have either Division 1 or 1AA programs. I guess they will continue to get 4th or 5th rung kids from Ohio & Florida and tell the media how fortunate they are to have "recruit XYZ coming to the U of M" (if they can get them into any classes). I'll stop ranting now about the joke of a program the U of M has been for my entire life and be happy to cheer for the Johnnies.

I am not old enough to know about the great UM teams that were national champs.  But did they do it with mostly MN kids.  If that is so maybe there are lessons that were learned but have been forgotten.

That makes a lot of sense.  Also makes sense why you might not get the top tier talent.  A lot to ask a kid to come and play with nothing ever to shoot for.  Well it will be interesting to see how the stack up next year when they have a chance to play for it all.  To bad they have a dome.  I would love to see a game outside up there in Nov. and see a team from the south head up that way.

Great game to watch on sat. as the almight purple raiders tasted defeat for the first time in 38 games!  Great win for beaver and the rest of the warhawks!  Congrats to them.  Also, saw a lot of MIAC players name to the 4 All-American team!  Great season in the MIAC.  Now I will look forward to see what the 2008 season will bring.  Felt bad for NW Mizzou state which lost it's 3rd national title game in a row.  They gave up a 1yd td with 22 secs left in the game.

Capital One bowl week is almost here!  Dec. 20!!
