You Johnnies have won a title in recent years, did you complain about the all american team or did you go buy the liqure store out of Hamms and have a 3 day bender?

I can't remember, I was really hungover  ???

Me, too.  It started noon the day we left and I sobered up on the plane on the way back.

Interesting thread over on the WIAC board relative to some of the behavior at Friday's Stagg Bowl luncheon and other atics prior to kickoff.

Developing....

Knowing Larry the way I do I can assure you that his team is not trained/taught to pull the jive monkey crap  8) 8)  When we have played Mount Union, we were respected at all times and they were gracious in defeat in 03.  From what I have heard and read---the junk was two-sided with WW being an equal participant, not the victim.

.......I have said to a few posters privately (and Duff knows this) the best place to Mount is Salem....they play tight, knowing that a bad outcome ruins a great season.

RT;  Indeed, these situations are generally two sided however my interest was piqued after being alerted by a very, very, very inside source.  I will say however that giving someone the dirty bird at a public event staged to display all that is Divison III appears more than curious.

No question, a guy never wants to have to play Mount on their homefield.... save for UMHB, a game in Alliance is near hopeless.

Anyone catch the Public Television special last night opposite Monday Night Football?  Nice expose' on the relevancy of college athletics.  Athletic admits and so forth... the piece even focused on academic elitist institution Williams College.

A BIG factor in the mess on the WIAC board is our own DustySJU. Perfect job of inserting the needle at just the right points. When it comes to baiting, Dusty is the master baiter.

Klop - I think the bitching was directed at the officials in 2003 who were blind, deaf or dumb, or a combination of the three. It kept us from getting the official monkey stomp.

I just noticed that there were 4 MIAC teams in the top 42 (all vote getters) on the D3footbal.com final poll. I think I'll go over to the WIAC, "Best Conference in the Nation" board, who only had three teams, to stir up a hornets nest. As if they weren't easy to rile.

After another read of the WIAC board, I would compare their AA snub and respect stuff to a few Bethel folks from the last month.  The vast majority of the fans (both WW and Bethel) knew that winning was what is important, not whether or not SJU fans would acknowledge it or whether or not Larry Warhawk was named All-American.  My only disappointment in WW winning this year was that Bob Berezowitz was not coaching.  He is a class guy and deserved this championship.....he began building for this back in 02 when he put WW in non-conference games against MUC and SJU over the course of three weeks to gauge how much the program would have to grow to become an elite team.  Saturday was the payday for that strategy.

The poll on the cover of D3 needs your help.......with all due respect to Beaver's performance on Saturday, it pales in comparison to Blake Elliott in 03......bad hamstring against a team that had not lost in 55 games....makes several great catches (including the blown call in the end zone that would have put the Monkey Stomp on)....lines up in the backfield as a RB and has one of the greatest runs in D3 history and rushes for over 100 yards......I realize we remember what is most recent in our brain, but nothing listed comes close to Blake's performance.  FIGHT REVISIONIST HISTORY!!!!

Not to completely change the subject....

But was anyone else curious as to why Lovie Smith did not take the Bears' final time-out last night?  Don't get me wrong - I'm a Vikings fan - but if I'm a Bears fan I'm calling for an explanation.  At least attempt to make the Vikings punt... who knows what happens; bad snap, blocked punt, Devin Hester taking one to the house, Punter shanking it do avoid Hester then short field for a Hail Mary... I almost think a coach should get fired for giving up like that.

Any thoughts?

And I'm just as curious as to why NOBODY talked about it.  Not the announcers, not the ninetyfour analysts after the game, not the ESPN hosts, no one.

Retagent-I watched your Caps last night and really thought they were going to pull it out. At least they walked away with a point! I used to like the Red Wings but lately, every time I watch them, I dislike them more!! Holmstrom has been on my "kick in the shins and run" list for a while, but Zetterberg and Hudler are fast working their way on to the list too. I have never like Hasek and after watching his cheap a$$ play on Gaborik, I like him even less! Head down or not, coming a good 20+ feet out of net and sliding to take Gaborik out at the knees was dirty. It amazes me that goalies (Hasek in particular) complain about players skating within 2 feet of him and then he does this?! If you want to initiate contact, be prepared to get some of that back!! Heck, if a player skates by Hasek with enough speed to create a breeze, Hasek drops like he is dead!! Looser! :P

Here is the clip if any of you haven't seen it.

Oldbethel- I was thinking the same thing(s). It seemed stupid to me, and it should've seemed stupid to the announcers, if they even cared to talk about the game. Man, I don't watch much MNF, but I sure got sick of listening to those corkheads.

oldbethel27

Fins, I totally agree.  They need more than one football guy in the booth.  Jawarski gives a lot of analysis (which I think is good, others may not), but Kornheiser and Tirico are not football guys, which makes for very poor quality announcing.
