John Gagliardi was named D3 coach of the year in the Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year contest today.  John gets $50,000 for civic and philanthropic endeavors and SJU gets $20,000 for scholarships.

Congratulations to John and the rest of the staff......well deserved honor.

I didn't realize that scholarships went along with the Coach of the Year aware (guess I could have read about it rather than just clicking 'Gagliardi').  Great job John.  Congratulations.

Does anyone else find it strange that this award was not given to the coach who won a national title?  He does deserve this honor as being one of the greatest coaches at any level, but does anything else factor into this award other than the wins and losses?  But still congratulations to him the staff and all the Johnnie followers, that is an outstanding award.
