Agreed fins. Nice job retagent! +k

In non-hockey news, our buddy Coach Todd has left Hamline and is going D-1 on us.

He rejoins former Stout coach Ed Meierkort at the University of South Dakota as the assistant Head Coach.

Todd told me last night that when SJU played Hamline this year he went looking for the Stiftungfestivities crowd and was disappointed to hear they were all down at Gabe's in the Park!  :D

We offered him a brat from our tailgate, but he declined.  A certain Hamline representative did offer to bring the Hamm's next time, though-- so he has to be considered an affiliate member of the crew, if only for the thought!

Best wishes to him in his new endeavor!

There used to be short necked giraffes too. The long neck giraffes would wade into the water up to their head, and tell the short necked giraffes to come in, the water wasn't deep.......explains why there aren't any short necked ones left.
If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

Time to trot out on of my favorite non-giraffe stories:

Tom had been in business for 25 years and was finally sick of the stress. He quit his job and bought 50 acres of land in Alaska as far from humanity as possible (feel free to insert Australia for Alaska - might make more sense that way ;D). He saw the postman once a week and got groceries once a month. Otherwise, it was total peace and quiet.

After 6 months or so of total isolation, someone knocked on his door. He opened it and there was a huge bearded man standing there.

"Name's Lars, your neighbor from forty miles up the road. Have'n a party Friday night... thought you might like to come... about 5:00."

"Great," says Tom, "after 6 months out here I'm ready to meet some local folks. Thank you!"

As Lars was leaving, he stops. "Gotta warn ya...There's going to be some drinkin."

"Not a problem," says Tom. "After 25 years in business, I can drink with the best of 'em."

Again, as he starts to leave Lars stops. "More 'n likely gonna be some fightin' too."

Tom says, "Well, I get along with people, I'll be all right. I'll be there. Thanks again."

Once again, Lars turns from the door. "More 'n likely be some wild sex too."

"Now that's really not a problem," says Tom, warming up to the idea. "I've been all alone for 6 months! I'll definitely be there. By the way, what should I wear?"

Lars stops in the door again and says, "Whatever you want. Just gonna be the two of us."

As our Mayor Finsleft proclaimed, it's giraffe joke week.  8)

Correctomundo, my friend. Your innocent post of a repeat notwithstanding, at least you, KR, and Mr.shoes to a lesser extent, know how to follow directions.
These other jokers on here have gone astray with their posting from sheep, elephant, Tommie, biker and kiwi categories.

;) heh,heh, good stuff fellas

So Fins, can next week be the official MIACPP "Beaver Joke Week" I heard a cute "Beaver Joke" this week. BTW: Not football related. We're talkin' real beavers here.  :o

St. John's vs. UW-Stout tomorrow night in Menomonie!

Come on over, me boyz!  8)

Would love to be there, BDB.  I still haven't experienced a MN-WI college hockey game (not too much college hockey of any sort out here, though they do seem to pull in some college games down in Anaheim).  I'll be counting on you for a first hand report on the game and how the J's look this year.

A man walks into a bar with a giraffe.  After a couple hours the giraffe falls off its stool and lays sprawled on the floor.  As the man gets up to leave, the bartender says, "Hey, mate, you can't leave that lyin' there."

The man responds, "That's not a lion.  It's a giraffe

OZ I love that humor, sorry late to respond,  +K, and maybe to  the rest of the winter posters

Let the rumor mills start swirling; from the PP today:

Pssst: Finalists for the University of St. Thomas football coaching job: former Gophers offensive line coach Gordie Shaw; Division III national champion Wisconsin-Whitewater offensive coordinator Jim Zebrowski; Morningside College head coach Steve Ryan and Macalester College head coach Glenn Caruso.
SJU Champions 2003 NCAA D3, 1976 NCAA D3, 1965 NAIA, 1963 NAIA; SJU 2nd Place 2000 NCAA D3; SJU MIAC Champions 2018, 2014, 2009, 2008, 2006, 2005, 2003, 2002, 2001, 1999, 1998, 1996, 1995, 1994, 1993, 1991, 1989, 1985, 1982, 1979, 1977, 1976, 1975, 1974, 1971, 1965, 1963, 1962, 1953, 1938, 1936, 1935, 1932

From Sir Sid:

Tommy Becker, the former Wayzata linebacker who left the Gophers football team, is reported to be heading for the University of St. Thomas

Question of the day: Is this kid going from bad to worse or worse to bad?

Interesting ....

I'm not a big karma guy --  I'll spread it from time to time to the usual suspects  who brighten this board -- and  hadn't posted in a long time.

But somehow I have steadily lost one karma point a day over the past two weeks? Is there a serial hater out there?

bennie - I hope you were similarly disappointed by the Caps/Avs last night. The Caps, interestingly enough, are now coached by Bruce Boudreau, who had a part as one of the opponents of the Johnstown Chiefs in "Slapshot". I told you earlier about Mike Green, I hope you noticed his mad skills.

I did not get a chance to watch the Caps last night. Two to one isn't nearly as embarassing as six to one. :-[ There are so many games tonight that I don't know which one(s) I will watch!

So does anyone else watch Pros vs Joes? The new season starts on Jan 24th. American Gladiators??? Please, I would rather watch 'roided out former pro athletes than 'roided out gym rats! :D

For you Pros vs. Joe's fans.  This is Kordell Stewart at his finest

Here's one back for you repete.

My weekend plans have gone into shambles.

Long lost cousin of wife of BDB appears and so wife takes off to Small Falls, leaving me with the kids for the weekend.

SJU/Stout hockey game tonight in peril.
Stout/LAX doubleheader basketball games Saturday in peril.
Taking/picking up 2nd Grade girl to/from a birthday party now in the mix.
Take 2nd grade daughter along for son of BDB's hockey games Saturday and Sunday.

The damn cousin should have picked a different weekend to reappear.  :-\

Apologize if this has been posted already. Looks like the UST job is down to 4 candidates:

Gordy Shaw, former University of Minnesota offensive line coach and recruiting coordinator

Jim Zebrowski, offensive coordinator at Wisconsin-Whitewater (2007 NCAA
champions) and former head coach, Lakeland (Wis.) College

Steve Ryan, head coach at Morningside (Iowa) College

Glenn Caruso, head coach at Macalester College

As someone who is not a Tommie fan, Caruso is the one on the list who scares me.  He is an awesome coach, and a really good guy who I think could really make use of St. Thomas's many resources and selling points
