Well done, TC! I'll gladly take the blame for that great hot-stove league reading.
The only point I'd differ with you on is your opinion of Delmon's defense. Obviously Torii was the gold-standard, but I think we will find Dmitri's kid brother to beyong just average as an outfielder. At least one stat-nerd ranks him in the top five in the best outfield arms/right field category. Using figures for runs saved per 200 opportunities, or as he says:

"which outfielders did the best job of controlling the running game during the previous season. Who excelled in gunning down adversaries as they tried to gain an extra base, or who, based just on reputation, most often caused opposing runners to think, "No, I think I'll hold second after all."

Interestingly, Cuddyer was 1st for RFers. For CFers, Torii was 25th.

Mr.Shoes and I discussed that very same article last week, and I think I mentioned in my post that I'm pretty excited about Delmon's arm in LF (presumably).  What I'm not as enthused about is the prospect of Young or (if recent reports are to be believed) Cuddyer having the range to play CF.  There are also some misleading statistics in that article, if I remember correctly.  For one thing, I think that metric overstats an outfielder's arm if he plays in front of a high wall--LF in Fenway, LF in Houston, and all of Florida were given as examples, but no mention of RF in the Dome was made.  Check this out for more in-depth discussion of Cuddyer and Young's outfield defense.  They don't think Delmon can play CF, either.  I will add, with LF substantially deeper than RF in the Dome, it will be nice to have strong arms in both spots.

1. Past 2008?  I'd guess about 10%.
2. Carl Pohlad hates you.  Personally.  Don't ever forget that.
3. He also hates puppies.
4. It will likely be a long time, but I think the 2008 Twins have a better chance of winning the Serious than the 2006 Cardinals or 2003 Marlins (or 1987 Twins) had going into their respective seasons.
