I missed this from Shooter:

Glenn Caruso, 33, who on Thursday left Macalester College as football coach and moved up the street to become football coach at the University of St. Thomas, was an assistant at North Dakota State and recruited many of the NDSU players who helped the Bison beat the Gophers last fall in the Metrodome.

Macalester athletics director Travis Feezell, who had Caruso for two seasons, wishes him only the best.

"Glenn was completely honest and forthright with me during the whole process," Feezell said. "St. Thomas is not only a good job, but a phenomenal job."

St. Thomas' opener next season, by the way, is against Macalester on Sept. 6 at St. Thomas. Feezell said he plans to hire a successor to Caruso next week.

That does seem to indicate that it would be an inside person for Caruso's job.

Doesn't mean the game isn't a storyline, of course, I should've said. Doesn't have to be competitive to be interesting.
And it doesn't have to be interesting to be a storyline, I suppose.

Ho-hum,...it might be interesting if Macalaster would win.

So which MIAC school will be first to put in a "Duck" style treatment center? 8)

That Nike money gets put to good use in Corvallis - er, Eugene - eh, bennie?

One thing that is obvious is that Nike isn't putting any money into my office! No juice bar, no waterfall, but we did get our carpets cleaned last night!! ;D

I think SJU needs to give Phil Knight an honorary degree - maybe that would open the pocketbooks.  I can hear it now - "If you turn to page 53 of your game program and see a red Nike swoosh, you get a free pair of Nike sneakers and (of course ) a large pizza from ..."

Have an off subject question. Mainly for Finsleft or Jred, wondering if either of your, or anybody for that matter, has heard of or participated in the Junior Statesmen Foundation summer programs. My daughter who is soph. in HS, received a brochure and application for this. It is for attending summer classes at either Georgetown, Yale, Princeton, or Stanford. Just looking for some first hand feedback. She is looking at becoming either a Dr. or an attorney. I figured either way it would be beneficial to her. Any help apprecitated. (I know, a $60,000 education and I'm still a terrible speller. ;D)   Thanks, Sju92

An honorary degree for Phil and a case of Chapstick for the poor lackey in the athletic department that gets stuck with the job of keeping him happy! Pucker up! ;) ;D

Top 3 coach in all of D3.

oAs.

OAS,

I am sure that Caruso is a fine coach and a great guy, but this statement from the "West Region's Eyes and Ears" for D3football is completely absurd.  I am sure his first year out of the truffles and wine conference will provide all D3 football fans an opportunity to see just how good a coach he is......before he gets that chance all we have to evaluate him is a 6-12 career record at Mac.  Because I can't find the actual statistic here or elsewhere on the net, I would venture to guess at least 150-175 of the active D3 coaches have more than 6 wins.

You have been known to accuse those of us associated with SJU as having major blinders for our team......I don't know that any of us have made a comment with the same level of blindness as you have just done  8) 8) 8)

Not true Dust.  I was NOT text'd the info.  It really doesn't matter.  Actually it is quite pathetic that he thinks it is "important" to break the story before me.  What a lame existence.

I wasn't texted the info either. Phoned at 3:20. Adam knows who to call first. :)

What's lame is my attempts to bury the hatchet with you in Collegeville being met by you running and hiding from me. And yeah, I publish to the front page first, that's true. The counter there is a tad bit higher than even the MIAC board.

Can I let this go? I'll try, no promises though.
If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

Dusty...it sure is, it has rained heavily here in So Cal for 5 days in a row.  Life is really hard here in the winter ;)  Our streets are actually flooding.

Pat Coleman

Hey, no doubt 6-12 ain't great. But it's a damn sight better than the 1-17 that the previous 18 games were like.

Top three in Division III? Yeah, Adam's opinion and it's a little out there. But that's why it's in the message board and not on a news page.

Let's discuss football in a positive way, sometimes kidding each other with no disrespect.

A motto we should all live by.

I can tell you're a little disturbed by something I said. It's not hard to put two and two together from your posts and the posts around you. I didn't even need to pull any favors to do the math. You don't hide things well, really.

If you feel I shouldn't observe something then you shouldn't make it obvious.
