That reminds me of one of the many funny (and childish, yes) moments in the movie There's Something about Mary.  I still chuckle when I see Ben Stiller's character trying to pronounce Farve's last name... "Fav... Fav... FavRay?"

Long story short, Stiller's mid-80's character get's his parts stuck in the zipper of his prom tux.  In this short clip the girlfriend's parents are trying to work out what is caught - the 'Franks' or the 'Beans'.

Chuckle.  Is that because we are too caught up in the scientific method to be persuaded by ID, or because the quality of posts here demonstrate that if ID is valid, then it's significantly lacking in I?

People do often confuse climate and weather, though. There are many sources for carbon emissions.

The whole idea of man-made global warming is absurd in the extreme. Just apply some logic. The Earth is about 4.5 billion years old, plus/minus 1-2%. The Earth has survived countless geological, volcanic, climatic, and tectonic upheavals. Human beings as we know them have been on Earth for about 200,000 years. The Industrial Revolution began in or about 1750. In relative terms, if the Earth is a year old then human beings have been on Earth for about 23.4 minutes, and have been industrialized for about 1.75 seconds. To even think that we -- puny, insignificant man -- could affect the climate of the Earth in any meaningful way because we burned some coal and oil is the height of arrogance, vanity, and pretentiousness.

Besides, there's nothing we as humans can do about global warming (unless we have figured out a way to control the Sun), and no one really wants to do anything about it (assuming it even exists). All people want to do is talk about it, and hope that someone makes everyone else do something about it, as long as they're not personally inconvenienced.

Here's what I've never understood about this argument.  Let's say that we have irrefutable proof that the climate was warming to the extent human life as we know it could get extinguished within the next 100 years...and...it was totally naturally caused, had nothing to do with what we are doing.  Would we just suck it up and say, oh well we had a good ride while it lasted.  Or would we try to figure out how to deal with it, not necessarily totally prevent it, but lesson it and adapt to it?
