Our thoughts and prayers go out to Jon Hassler (SJU `55) and his family. Jon passed away this morning.

Ditto-just got the note from SJU. Jon was a real asset to the SJU community and a fine author.
Amen. I enjoyed many of his novels. 'Dear James' is especially touching  -- Great Writing.
57 did you know Jon Hassler?
Only from his writing  -- wish I did.

I thgink those were 18 other guys masquerading as Washington Capitals last night. Same old Olie Kolzig though. I hope the real guys show up for the last 7 games.

After reading your first post, I was wondering if it was my fault OZ. But, you came through in the clutch, as did the Gopher hockey team tonight. I'm sorry I doubted either.

If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

Hi Fellas,

Just checking in so you can keep my Karma in line.  I was summoned by the Mayor.  Hope all is well.  Gotta run headed to watch the Twins game tonite...

Cheers

Keeping your karma in line ... holy smoke - I think you were still in 3 figures when you went underground (or to the LL, which is slightly different).  You did some heavy lifting in your absence.

Wanted to give a heads up to Sports Illustrated fans, or just people who like great writing. SI has put its entire archive online, for free. Every story, every photo, every issue, since 1954. You can read the stories in regular form, but also read them as they appeared in the magazine originally. It's pretty amazing. And it's all searchable, so when you type in, say, John Gagliardi, all the stories that have mentioned him or been about him come up.

Flash, I like the view from Fin's deck better!
I fly any cargo that you can pay to run
The bush league pilots, they just can't get the job done
You've got to fly down the canyon, don't never see the sun
There's no such thing as an easy run

I probably should have mentioned this earlier, but let's all keep Tom Pohl in our thoughts and prayers. For those of you who aren't aware of it, last Sunday in their game against Minnesota State - Mankato, he was checked (elbowed) near the boards, fell awkwardly on the top of the dasher popping off his helmet and fracturing his skull. He suffered bleeding on the brain, had surgery, and is, at last report recovering fairly well. He is out of intensive care at St Mary's in Rochester.

Tom is the last of the Pohl brothers from Red Wing to play hockey at the U, and is one of those "character guys" so esential for a good locker room atmosphere and team cohesion. His older brother, John, plays for the Maple Leafs.

Thanks for the update retagent. I've been wondering how he's doing.

That was a nasty injury. The refs were smart to get that MSU kid off the ice immediately before all hell broke loose.

I think everyone acted appropriately when it happened. The elbow was a penalty, but I don't think it was a vicious hit, just unlucky. It appeared that the Gopher players realized that and didn't over react. I also read where the kid that hit him is pretty broken up about it, and has gone to visit Tom.

Oz, is this you? If not you may want to bid on this ebay auction. (have to watch a commercial before the video starts)

In the Caps defense, I do think that the Blackhawks are an up and coming team. They have some young fire power on that team! The Caps will definitely need to bring their "A" game from now on!! :D

John(ny) also went to daycare with DuffMan way back when.
