Northerns are OK as an eating fish - well behind walleye, but are also very bony. I would give them a 6 on a scale of 1 - 10. Walleye maybe an 8 1/2 and salmom 9 to 9 1/2. Just one man's opinion. All others are welcome to call me an idiot.
Well I won't go so far as to call you an idiot, because I used to feel the same way about northerns. It makes a world of difference if you fillet the Y bones out of them, That will easily raise them on your scale 1 to 2 points. Fresh Northern with no bones are some of the flakiest, tastiest fish you can get. Don't let the slime on the outside make you think that the meat is somehow untasty. Broiled, pan-fried or lightly breaded and deep-fried, with lemon and seasonings, you'll have a hard time finding a tastier fish.
Just my $.02 worth.

Hey Duff....ever fish for northern pike?  I did as a kid in Canada, I know they are great fighting fish but are they good eating?

Pike are very tasty--maybe more so than the beloved walleye, but most people hate to deal with the bones.  In general, I think walleye is so popular because of it's lack of flavor.  It's so mild, there's nothing not to like about it.

I haven't eaten many fish that I don't like.  It's easy to have bad fish if it's prepared incorrectly, though.

I have yet to try an eelpout, but I imagine I will someday.

Grand Marais, north of Duluth and on your way to or from Canuck-land.  Well, the sign is in what was Chippewa City, but that closed up around 1936 and everything moved to Grand Marais.

I was going to say, I am getting married there, but that doesn't look like Sartell!

Agree with you Duffman 100%.  Cannot remember any fresh fish, well prepared that I have not liked.  On the other hand, I can still recall the putrid taste of a bite of catfish and on another occasion a bite of Tilapia that had gone bad.

If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

Wouldn't you know, the guy farthest away nails it. Oz and Flash, you'll have to split the million dollar jackpot, the rest of you will receive a lovely parting gift.

The church does have an SJU connection:

I didn't see oz had already posted that, I cede my portion of the million to him. I would like a lovley parting gift though.

Was at the Minneapolis-Los Angeles Lakers game last night......how about them Lakers?   With the cost of a ticket, you should be glad they left.

Fins must be working in his Chippewa City office.

Good effort, but wrong Chippewa City. I'm in Cook County, not Chippewa.
