bennie.....you noticed all that stuff too?   ;)

48 here for an even 80%.  Those economics questions killed me at the end.  Not to much economics study when you are a guitar major.

As we have just passed Memorial Day, I will take a chance and descend into lowly dorkdom by linking to the Civic Literacy Report - Civic's Quiz.  There are 60 questions and I'm proud to say I scored 56 correct (93.33%).  Harvard was the top scoring school at 69.56%.  Interestingly, SCSU was in on the study (by the Intercollegiate Studies Institute) and scored the third best "Bang For Your Buck" civics education.

Now, my wife says that on rare occasions I demonstrate that I can be a hopeless nerd.  I trust this post proves her wrong...
Thanks...
55 of 60.

Finger mis-fire on #34!  ARGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Guessed wrong on the Jefferson versus Beard versus de Tocqueville answer on #39!

I'm ashamed to admit 45.  The history questions killed me.  Hate to think of what I would have scored if I had not just finished the books John Adams and Selected Writings of Thomas Paine.

OzJohnnie

Pretty good scores on the civics quiz.  I'm ashamed to say that my score in my senior year would have been a dead set shocker.  I've had to do quite a bit of reading in the years since to make up for my non-civic ways back when choosing classes.

I just hope the 'burgh can afford to keep all the young'uns.

That is the downside to a team doing well. The player's price goes up and with the salary cap, that means some unpopular decisions have to be made. :'(

If this was baseball, I would share your concerns, MLB has the worst economic system around. However, the Pens have a new arena set to open in a couple of seasons, so they are in great shape financially for the long term. The salary cap will actually be increasing this year, so the Pens should be able to keep their core intact. Players like Crosby also signed cap-friendly deals to help the organization in the future, which will be bright indeed.

Mr. Ypsi

Speaking of The Kid, Crosby finally broke the Pen's drought - 1-0 after 1.

It's been a while since I've done an Aussie Rules posting and I suspect you're all hungering for news.  The Mighty Fighting Hawks stand atop the ladder (standings) with a perfect 9-0 record (the regular season is 22 games long).  This weekend promises a great clash with first taking on third (the Western Bulldogs) on Saturday afternoon.

This last weekend the girls and I went to the MCG to watch the Hawks play the Melbourne Demons.  The Dees played as if they were possessed (ba-dum dum) and gave us quite a game.  Here are (hopelessly one-sided) highlights of the game (click high quality to see a bit better).  At the 3:51 mark Lance Franklin kicks a big 60 meter bomb from the boundary for a great goal.

Has Mike Milbury always been a Mo-ron, or has he come to it lately?

I get to play in a Pro-Am with the ladies of the Duramed Futures Tour here tomorrow. Will try to defend my #1 finish from a year ago. One participant this weekend to watch, who will be on the LPGA Tour next year, is new HS graduate, Vicky Hurst. You heard it here first.

Crosby is definetly the real deal...hockeys next mega-superstar.  Go Pens!

If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

Well folks, today will be the last day I post as a single man.  Thanks for all the marriage advice.  I will follow very little of it ;D

I will check in a few times today, but then it's off for a brief stop in St. Cloud prior to a week in Mexico.  Behave when I'm gone.  I'll have a drink on the beach for each of you :o
