Trying to crank up a not so old tradition fins?  ;)

The squad got in 1 inning last night before the skies opened up. We were up 3-0 with son of BDB standing on 2nd - no outs, so we are calling it a win.  ;D

I am hoping for good weather on Sunday because I am going to the Prefontaine Classic track meet!! You all can watch it on NBC live 1-3pm Pacific Time. It will be like a preview of the Olympics (and the US Olympic trials). When I ride home after work today, I might have to take the long way home on the bike trails to see if any of the runners are out and about. ;D

Bennie,

Dressed in black now?  Are you in mourning yet as the hockey season is over? ;D

Nope. Just moving on to the next sport! ;) I will probably start getting antsy about it in August, but the Olympics will help distract me. Then it is football season and then hockey starts up again! Whoohoo! Right there are a couple of reasons why fall is my favorite season! In 2004 after the Flames lost in the finals I did wear black for a week much to the amusement of my co-workers. ;D

Let's not get too eager.  Some of us up here in Minneezzota would like to have summer first.   ;)

I invite you to have an early summer - lots of heat - but finish by, say, July 20.  I want all the skeeters burned and fried, and some cooling breezes to start filtering down from the north, by the time I hit Ely on 7/23.  (Hey, a guy can dream, can't he?)

I didn't leave the area because of the winters.    ;D

In the summers here in Oregon, sometimes I hear people complaining about the humidity. I just laugh! ;D

So you're an Atlanta Flames fan?   ::)

Anyone know where Mitch Brecke is headed?   Fargo Froum reported this:

FARGO - North Dakota State's backup quarterback position was sent into upheaval after No. 2 man Mitch Brecke told head coach Craig Bohl that he is transferring to another school.

What once was a solid spot with four capable players last fall is now down to starter Nick Mertens.

"We have a little depth issue there," Bohl said.

Bohl said NDSU will move quickly to add another player, which would most likely be a Division I Football Bowl Subdivision transfer or a junior college player. There are prospects out there, he said.

At this time last year, NDSU had starter Steve Walker and backups Mertens, Brecke and Ryan Parsons. But Walker graduated and Parsons left the team a year early. That left the starting job this spring to a battle between Mertens and Brecke, which Mertens won.

"He felt like Nick established himself and he wanted the opportunity to play more than just a backup role," Bohl said.

I do appreciate that the Flames use the Atlanta "Flaming A" on the alternate captains jerseys. A nice way to pay homage to their heritage. ;D
