57 - PM me your boyhood address, so finsleft and I can drive by it tomorrow and pay our respects.  ;)
Boyhood home of 57  :D

BDB:
The day before I met you last fall was the last time I was in Chip. Sad to say - Pretzel's Tavern, which was the last place in Chip. to have the city's famous 'hot beef' sandwich went out of business.  :(
If you go to the Lodge first, you probably won't worry about food.
BTW: You won't be getting any Hamms there.  :P

Dammit on Pretzel's going down. Any other ideas for hometown 57 food?
Mrs. 57 & I like Bresina's at 704 E. Grand Ave. on the East Hill. Just a Mom & Pop & nothing fancy - farmer food? I don't even know if they serve beer.   >:(   Downtown on Grand or Central there used to be a place called Lindsay's. That may be more to you big city boy's liking but still just family food. If you got more money than good sense, I may be able to come up with something more upscale.  ;)

More money than good sense? We're talking BDB and fins here. A coin purse would hold plenty enough money to outweigh their good sense.
If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

Here is a flash from the past for some of us...ahem...that have been around for a bit longer and grew up in Southwest Minnesota.  The other evening I was really bored and ended up watching a bit of a show called The Bill Engval Show. On the show they were showing flashbacks to when Bill and his wife met which included some scenes from his bachelor pad. He had the place "decorated" with band posters. One of the bands was Litterer, a one hit wonder from the late 80's...they played my junior prom. :-[

Yep! I think they were from Northern Iowa.  8)
You are lucky - I'm from the Whoopee John era.  :(
I think The Rainbow Nightingales played at my prom.  ::)
On the other hand, when I was in grad school at Iowa State, they had Count Basie! That was something else.

I would take Count Basie over Litterer! ;) I have to go to graduation tonight. One of my friends just got her master's degree. I didn't even go to my grad school graduation and I am stuck going to hers! It will probably be hot and take all too long. At least there will be drinking afterwards! ;D

Tmerton, sorry I have had to dial things down since I have gotten on the bench a little over a year ago. I would still like to get Paris up to Collegeville for a Johnnie game. I'm thinking that it would be wonderful to have her there for homecoming when we host the Gusties on September 27. We would probably want to invite former Gustie Ryan Hoag to also be present in the hope that he and Paris could "hook up" and form a loving relationship.

As to life in Carver County, it is wonderful as always.  :D

Since I retired, I have a few minutes to spare. Actually, and don't laugh here, I have a time share out in San Diego County at the Lawrence Welk Resort. Talk about people who don't have much time to spare (or share).  The average age there may be higher than in Palm Springs. At least they have a younger group of people who play on the other team ("not that there's anything wrong with that") to bring that average down.

I am all giddy like a school girl in anticipation of  finslefts arrival. Should be within the hour.

BDB will have the fins check in to the MIACPP when he shows. And retagent, I gotta tell you, he is going to blow a cork on the Lawrence Welk Resort!  :D

Dad? Is that you? Lawrence Welk...really? Just break out the Jim Reeves records and it will be like having my dad around! ;) ;D

Ahhhh, the Lawrence Welk Show...

The memories of creamed peas, roast beef and blueberry pie at Grandma's and Grandpa's farm come flooding back...

Rest in Peace Tim Russert.  Sunday's at 9:00 will be an empty hour for a long time.

A one and a two... words that nightmares are made of! :D Between my parents love of Lawrence Welk and living in Germany for a bit, I have heard more than my fair share of polkas!!
