If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

Ahhhh, the Lawrence Welk Show...

The memories of creamed peas, roast beef and blueberry pie at Grandma's and Grandpa's farm come flooding back...

A one and a two... words that nightmares are made of! :D Between my parents love of Lawrence Welk and living in Germany for a bit, I have heard more than my fair share of polkas!!
I used to have impure thoughts watching the Lennon Sisters.

Wow, this Wisconsin is a great country! Me and BDB are purt-neer through the first turdy pack of Hamm's with Lawrence Welk cranked full blast out on the deck. WooHoo! Here's my Larry W imitation:
"Tank you boys-um. Dat wass a real-a toe-a tapper-um. Now we'll hear from-a Bobby and-a Sissy-um, singink their all-a time-a favorite-um: "Nothing goes right-a when your shorts are on too tight-um". Take it away-a Bobby and-a Sissy-um. A one-a an a two-um."

OK, just read it out loud.

Time to go tear up Rice Lake...

Why am I nervous about BDB and fins going out?

I just realized that I graduated from HS 28 years ago today, Friday June 13, 1980.  By this time 28 years ago I wasn't remembering much of the ceremony.

Speaking of bands that played HS dances, KS remembers Bon Jovi playing a high school dance before they were bon Jovi.  The E Street Band played at the HS when KS oldest brother went there, so did Eddie Rabbitt, before he went country.

Back to the JD.

I SAID DON'T LAUGH!

I know you said don't laugh and I feel a bit bad, but you gotta realize that you can't hang bait like that in front of this crew and expect us not to bite.  It's like putting some liver jerky on a dog's nose; we're just not trained well enough to hold still.

The work part of the trip is over.  Off tomorrow to Kauai.

Before my meeting this afternoon, we went to the Arizona Memorial and met two Pearl Harbor vets.  We owe those guys a lot.

Happy Father's day to all the dads, and thanks to the women who make it possible! :D

In the interest of peace and harmony, I won't tell ya what I was doing 28 years ago today. :D

Tmerts,
The AZ memorial is amazing. I had no idea the impact it would have on me until I was out there. My first time there was months after signing my Ensign Oath of Office. Seeing all the guys of my same rank who were probably my age that went down that day hit me hard.
Now accepting new patients. All bills must be paid in scotch shortly after any services rendered.  Sorry TDT, no problems below the waist.

Discovered by the Germans in 1904, they named it San Diego, which of course in German means a whale's vagina.

I've been there twice.  The first time it was part of a boat tour that went along the coast and into the harbor.  The harbor is so small and all the ships were very close.  The second time was at the memorial itself.  Seeing both really gives the total picture.

A while ago I posted a story link about this young athlete, Sam Pederson, headed to St. John's as a football recruit; here's an update on his final high school game, and about the kind of kid he is... (He's planning on playing football, but not yet sure about baseball at SJU)...

Pederson played on the La Crosse Aquinas baseball team that won the Wisconsin D3 title last spring, and was looking to repeat this year. They lost in the title game. But in between, he and the Blugolds won state titles in football and basketball...
