Is that 1:39 central time or mountain time?  I've been watching it for almost an hour now and don't know if I can take it much longer.

Since we're bustin' out a bit this morning I have a question for Dr Kilted Rat that's been bugging me for awhile.  How can a MD bitch about "Public assistance: helping fight natural selection for over 70 years", when the job of an MD itself is to "fight natural selection"?

There is a difference in my mind between natural selection in terms of medical condition/illness and natural selection in terms of laziness and not holding a job when it is much easier to sit at home and collect checks.

I suppose I should have clarified that but there isn't enough room in the signature space.

I have no issues at all with public assistance in the forms of healthcare for children and elderly, providing food and other necessities to children and the like. The part that bothers me is the large quantities of federal monies going to individuals who could work but refuse to do so.
Now accepting new patients. All bills must be paid in scotch shortly after any services rendered.  Sorry TDT, no problems below the waist.

Discovered by the Germans in 1904, they named it San Diego, which of course in German means a whale's vagina.

I would definitely be in for some golf at Hazeltine at some point.  Let me know and I am sure I could fit something into my schedule.

I could be able to hit up the MIAC night.  I work, but may be able to get out early.
Heaven isn't too far away,
Closer to it every day

I should really let this go, but....

Per Wikipedia "Natural selection is the process by which favorable heritable traits become more common in successive generations of a population of reproducing organisms, and unfavorable heritable traits become less common.....such that individuals with favorable [traits] are more likely to survive and reproduce than those with less favorable [traits]."

So in order to breed the lazyness trait out of people who are willing to take federal money instead of working, you will need to prevent these individuals from procreating or severly reduce their number of offspring.   So, maybe the problem with your quote is using the phrase Natural Selection and you should say something like "Public Assistance; creating a disincentive to work for over 70 years."  Not very catchy though.

Also, public assistance 70 years ago was the "New Deal", right?  Which assistance parts of the New Deal would you like to have prevented?

BTW, I think that most public assistance that lets able bodied people just sit at home and collect a check has pretty much disappeared since the Reagan and Clinton years.

OK...I understand the necessity of a mini van with a big family.  My rant was directed to those individuals, mostly females, who think they are sitting in their living room watching TV while driving them.

Duff, so I guess you will have to bring your own beer when we go fishing. ;)

As to the tort issue, being a plaintiffs personal injury attorney, I can relate to both sides of  the issue.  In almost 30 years of practice, I can say there are abuses on both sides of the war.  I take great pride in helping those who are in desperate need of compensation to continue with a life of any kind after a tragic accident, and after almost 30 years of practice, I can divide any number by 33 1/3 % instantly.

Seriously, my former clients are my best referral source.  Like granny used to say, " a good deed never goes unrewarded".

A six pack of good beer makes a great referral fee.   ;)  had to work beer into the post somehow.

Driving down the freeway this morning at 9a.m., it was 103 degrees and at 4 p.m. it was 114 degrees.  As they say in Redlands, hydrate, hydrate, hydrate.
