Probably no other Johnnie that deserves 1st team mention, but what about 2nd team and Honorable Mention?  Anybody think anybody got left off that deserves to be included?

No, though it wouldn't have been a huge shock to see Mike Schumacher at least get a mention.  Superficially, his stats were pretty similar to Gunderson's last season.  In fact, I'm a little surprised to see Gunderson on the first team after a (relatively) disappointing season in 2007.

Shame On You Spade Cooley is and understatement.  We old farts remember this scandal. :'(

Being a Texas instead of an Okie, I always liked Bob Wills better.

Nevertheless, a brief repose to enjoy the dulcet tones of Western Swing is always a good thing.  ;)

Careful, Ralph.  No bad words about Okies.  As I used to ask all my cousins from Houston, "What's the difference between an Okie and a SOB?"  [Answer: The Red River.]  Yet I'm the Okie in the family with a degree from UT Austin.

Oh - and Bob Wills used to play in Tulsa at Cain's Ballroom.
Mrs. 57 is from Tulsa and tells me Bob Wills was on the radio at noon every day from Cain's 'Dance Academy' as it was called then. The band 'RANCID' is playing there this weekend. Somehow I get the feeling that they don't play 'Western Swing'.  :P

The older the violin - the sweeter the music!

Fins and Buckwheat -

The second or third week in July will work for me.  Just let me know.

GO JOHNNIES!!!
Go Johnnies!!!

I don't even golf and I thought this was kind of funny! There is one part in here that would hold true for me golfing...picking up and throwing the ball! I took golf at CSB and learned that throwing underhand worked better than overhand for me! ;) ;D

This is a funny article too. Some tips for bandwagon jumping!

Hot damn!  Mrs. 57 is obviously quality people. 8)  As for Cain's, I was surprised to see that it's open again; the article I linked describes an interesting history.

Any of you baseball fans watching the College World Series?  It's been highly entertaining, especially seeing Fresno State's run through the playoffs (it's the equivalent of a team seeded as low as 13 through 16 making it to the finals of the NCAA basketball tournament - which has never happened).  One of #2 son's friends plays Right Field for Fresno State and has been having a great time; last night he ran into the outfield wall at full speed - but made the catch and held on to the ball!  (He lit up #2 son in a football game when they were both high school seniors - something that #2 son usually did to others; he popped right back up but it was quite a hit.)  Anyway, the finals are today starting at 6pm in MN.

snoop dawg

Shoulda...thanks, other than my ongoing feud with a certain SCIAC guy, I can't imagine who or why I get hit so hard so fast.  I try to spread as much +k as possible in return for the support.

It used to upset me but, I have just come to realize I can't do anything about it.

Does that mean East Texas Baptist won't show up on Sept. 6?  They're kinda near Mexico. 8)

Nice job on the translation tmerts. In appreciation, I have found a photo so's you won't have to look at the red X no more.

I understood.  The mascot at the University of Jawja is spelled "Dawgs", as in "How 'bout them Dawgs!"  ;)

Ah... the memories of country...

At 16 my friend and I lit off for Duluth and the Stearns County Fair with our new found driving freedom and my dad's vintage '54 Chevy pickup (which I later, of course, put a nice big dent in) to have our first concert road trip.  On tap was Weird Al Yankovic doing his "I Need A New Drug" tour.  Also playing, a bit of music that every high schooler was embarrassed to enjoy, but tapped their feet with the beat and sung the choruses all the same: Charlie Pride.  (I, of course, have his greatest hits on my iPod).

EDIT: And this be it, even down to color (sans the fluffy dice):

Man, looking at that photo sure makes the Minnesota summers as a kid come flooding back...  The smell of drying hay and grass, the bright sun and sleep inducing warmness of a summer afternoon, the idle chit-chat of the grannies in their fold out chairs, the escape with your friends and cousins to swim in the lake or play on beaver dams on the creek...

Yup, growing up (for my kids) in the big smoke has it's advantages, but there are some things that get missed as well.
