Willy Wonka

57 is the top TDT hater on this board? Wonka takes offense at that.

To switch gears a little bit back to GAC football, since it hasn't received/deserved much attention the last few years...

I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

It's good to see GAC getting recognized for their efforts.  That's a pretty exclusive award: "The Gustavus Adolphus Adolphus [sic] College football stadium, which was dedicated this past September, has been selected as one of 89 state-of-the-art athletic facilities built in the past year by Athletic Business magazine."

I particularly enjoyed this bit: "The Gusties drew an estimated 15,641 fans for six home games in the 2007 season for an average of 2,607 per game. The largest crowd was attracted on October 13 vs Saint John's when 5,196 fans filled the new stadium to capacity."

But in all seriousness, if you click on the graphic to see the blow-up of the stadium, it's a pretty good looking facility.

[OK - because I'm a weak man and can't resist, here are the thoughts that floated in my head: 1) Was Athletic Business magazine really able to build 89 facilities in one year? 2)  GAAC is the sound a cat makes when coughing up a fur ball, 3)  How many state-of-the-art facilities outside of 89 were available for consideration to be 'selected'?, 4) The Johnnies helped raise GAC's average attendance by just under 25% - Go Johnnies!]

The bat man is coming today. May have to go out and down a few Zima's with red skittles.

Just a heads up guys, as you can see from the link at the top, registration for the D3football.com 2008 Kickoff is up and running. It's been a pretty solid read the past 2 or 3 years, however long I've been getting it.

Even if you have no desire to read it, I figure $10 is a cheap price to pay to help cover some of the costs that allow us to BS about Hamm's, Kournikova's, golf, monkey stomps and various other topics.

If you have a .edu I think it's like 6 bucks. I still have my .edu address, but I figured I can throw an extra gallon of gas into the pot to keep this place up and running. Otherwise, how would we ever find out what Duff caught last weekend, what TDT's newest pink shirt looks like, what Flash is doing (I guess we could assume drinking and settle for 90% accuracy), etc.

OK, enough of the telethon. Now back to the regularly scheduled banter.

Brown noser.

Well, I'm glad my tax dollars are not helping to pay that guy's salary (you can tell from his blog he has tenure).  But living where I do I also know that my tax dollars are helping to pay the salaries of a lot of other crazies - and not just in the colleges and schools.  Oh, well - since he's a science guy, I'll let Duff handle him. ;)

I visited GAC's stadium with my son, it is really nice. The private box is really cool.  The field should help them recruit.

In light of the fearsome foursome's recent golf outing, here is a recent TIGER STORY  for you.  I think I already posted that one of my friends is the director for many of Tiger's golf commercials.  He just told me this story this morning while we were playing golf.  After Tiger won the U.S. Open, he went to Orlando to film a series of 3 commercials.  In one of them his caddie, an actor, had an unfortunate experience.  The camera man was up on a crane about 50 feet in the air and approximately 50 yards from Tiger.  The cameraman was surrounded by unbreakable plexi-glass.  The director told Tiger to aim his shot in the direction of the cameraman.  The plot for the commercial was that Tiger supposedly hits a bad shot and the caddie reacts to the bad shot.  Tiger asks the director," Do you want me to hit the cameraman?"  The director laughs and says, "go ahead".  Tiger hits his first shot, it hits the plexi-glass and comes directly back at Tiger who saw the ball coming.  Unfortunately, the caddie-actor was so into his role, he didn't.  The ball hit him directly in the nose and broke it. He is now suing my buddy and Tiger.

I was really upset with my buddy when he told me the story.  I couldn't understand why he didn't give the actor my card. ;)

My sister actually goes to UM-Morris.  She's a pre-med student, so I will have to ask if she knows this nut job.

Glad he wasn't given my card. It's called assumption of the risk. :-\

Not sure if son of BDB is ready for this kind of pregame action quite yet.  ;D
