So I was home all alone yesterday trying on my wife's unde thinking about getting a new TV. Can anyone talk me out of getting a Samsung - LN46A550 46" 1080p LCD HDTV. (it's under 1500, which is about all I want to spend.)
Flash, you will experience the next generation of HD television in all its glory (disclaimer, in the world of TV's, a generation is one year). It's full 1080p HD resolution and 30,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio offers amazing image detail and color clarity, all on a 46-inch screen. With it's 3 HDMI inputs, connecting to all your peripherals (including your beer cooler) is a snap. You can enjoy crystal-clear, lifelike HD sound, with SRS TruSurround XT. You'll be able to hook up your MP3 player or digital camera via the Wiselink USB 2.0 connection; this versatile user interface lets you scroll through playlists and porno pictures at an appropriately accelerating pace. No doubt, it's advanced HD entertainment, only from Samsung.

Spoken like one of Bob's Beauties right there. :)

Hey, guys - back from the wilds of Quetico and Ely.  Fish pix to come this weekend after I get caught up on some other stuff and shave all this fuzzy stuff off my face.  We saw absolutely no one famous on the trip, but we did see some old guy driving a Salvation Army van full of kids tailgating another car at around 80 MPH on I-35.  Does that count? :-\

With all the baseball talk, football season can't be far away. 8)

Twins looked good tonight. Time for some roster moves. I would guess that livan has pitched his last game and they should also tube Monroe. Obvious pitcher to call up will be Liriano. For a right-handed bat it would not surprise me to see them call up someone like Randy Ruiz.

An Old Italian man lived alone in the New Jersey countryside. He wanted to dig his tomato garden, but it was very hard work as the ground was hard. His only son, Vincent, who used to help him, was in prison. The old man wrote a letter to his son and described his predicament.

Dear Vincent,
I am feeling pretty badly because it looks like I won't be able to plant
my tomato garden this year. I'm just getting too old to be digging up a
garden plot. I know if you were here my troubles would be over. I know
you would be happy to dig the plot for me.
Love, Dad

A few days later he received a letter from his son.

Dear Dad,
Don't dig up that garden. That's where I buried the bodies.
Love, Vinnie

At 4 a.m. the next morning, FBI agents and local police arrived and dug up the entire area without finding any bodies. They apologized to the old man and left.

The next day the old man received another letter from his son.

Dear Dad,
Go ahead and plant the tomatoes now.  That's the best I could
do under the circumstances.
Love you,
Vinnie

Tmerts,

How was the fishing.  Probably couldn't keep those stinking walleyes off of your lines. >:(

Tmerton, What did the boys think of the Great White North? Bugs had to have been incredible. Fishing should have been top notch!
I fly any cargo that you can pay to run
The bush league pilots, they just can't get the job done
You've got to fly down the canyon, don't never see the sun

Very good fishing - big fat tasty walleye made for some great meals. :)

The bugs were said to be the worst in 6 years but it really wasn't too bad.  The worst was a bunch of black flies at one spot and ankle biters almost everwhere, but the bug dope seemed to work for the most part.  We had two great days at a place on Burntside Lake, just below Lake Jean, with hardly a mosquito to be found.  Fishing, as noted, was very good - and the fish themselves were excellent.

Was it anything like this?

Not quite so bad.  I remember reading the short story that was the basis for The Duel back in the 70s.   A good read and the movie follows it pretty closely.
