Don't necessarily disagree with you tmerts, I expect the Tommies will be improved, yet  by their very nature, still suck.
Some of you certainly have jumped into the football conversation with both feet. My transition to football, by my very nature, must occur gradually, if it is to occur at all. Therefore, here's a joke:

A man walks up to a woman in his office each day, stands very close to her, draws in a large breath of air and tells her that her hair smells nice. After a week of this, she can't stand it any longer, and goes to Human Resources. Without identifying the guy, she tells them what the coworker does, and that she wants to file a sexual harassment suit against him. The HR supervisor is puzzled by this approach, and asks, "What is sexually threatening about a coworker telling you your hair smell nice? The woman replies, "Its Keith......the midget."

I hate to differ with my buddy Oz, and no doubt Tommies do suck, but I expect them to be a suprise team this year.  They gave the Johnnies a good game last year and, aside from Tommies sucking, with better coaching (I don't care if the new guy is from Mac, my guess is he's a definite upgrade from Rooney) I don't see any reason that UST shouldn't put a competitive team out there this year and years to come.  (Hell, they also apparently have free tuition for athletes now.)  I know the Mayor, the President and many others will disagree, but that's my position and I'm sticking to it.
Conventional wisdom over there is that their problem in recent years has not been as much lack of ability as lack of committment, dedication, discipline, heart yadayadayadayada.  Supposedly the new guy Program Turner
will be fixing all that.

I know in our discussions of where to rank St. Thomas in the 1-239 preseason ranking for Kickoff, they are fairly high.

But they would have to think that wouldn't they?  Hitler thought a surprise offensive through the Ardennes into Antrwerp could save Nazi Germany.  Oops.

Nope, I think the Tommies will suck again this year like a dime store hooker.  Next year, maybe they will be a bit better and they year after I expect they may be as good as to be classified as an Emperor's Club sucker.  Point is, STUD could win the National Championship (anything is possible...), but they will always suck.

EDIT:  "STUD"?!?  Contact Freud!  I may have subliminal Tommie envy.

The Tommies will improve in the win/loss column, no doubt.  Look for the winner of the Tommies final regular season game to go to the playoffs.  You heard it here first.

retagent

As soon as I saw the Rooney misprint, I knew where it was going. It's as hard to pass up a Ferris Beuller's Day Off reference as it is to pass up a Big Lebowski reference.

Bad news from the retagent front. Broke the first bone ever in this old body. Left clavicle. No more hockey or golf for a while. :-\

The Ardennes didn't provide much resistance early in WWII, when Germany employed its Blitzkreig tactics to devastating effect. And, while reaching Antwerp was clearly impossible, the Battle of the Bulge actually began rather well for the Germans.

Basically, I'm not sure that's the best example to use if you want to bash the hated Tommies...unless you expect the new guy to pull a Brownie and start 3-0 before crushing all remaining hope over the rest of the year  >:(
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

To heck with Beltre, any chance the Twins can pick Ibanez from Seattle?  That guy is killing us in this series.
Everyday is payday in paradise.

No, I'll even go so far as to say UST will go 4-0 before all hope is crushed.

I thought I would just quote this message of yours before you delete it out of ironic humility at having the Twinks double cross you again...

They're like dog that can't hunt.  You get so damn mad, but then they go and do something that make you forgive them.  Over and over.

Let's see if Nathan can clean this up in the 8th.  Feels like September to me watching the Tigers break through in the top of the 14th against the sox putting us in an opportunity to take outright 1st again.

***FSN loses the video signal on a full count?  unbelievable.... and nathan gives up the runs ..great....***

2nd edit*** and zumaya gives the game away to the white sox**  don't believe in anything kids...

3rd edit*** Kubel's never hit 2 home runs in a game before tonight, why not 3?***

this never happened..

OzJohnnie

BAAAHHHHH!!!!!

The ironic humility is mine.  All mine.  I should have known better than to post that message.

I blame it on marriage, the institution that taught me never to learn.

Mr. Ypsi

Imagine the pain of a Tigers fan - if 'Zoom-Zoom' can't hold a two-run lead, I'm just about to throw in the towel. :(

A couple of weeks ago we lost five of six games to the Twinks and Pale Hose, with every friggin' loss by one run - that may have been the season. :'(
