Well, crap.  The Japanese just beat the Aussie women and Team USA is starting to pull away from the Aussies.  They just have too much talent.  Australia did themselves well though in playing the first quarter pretty tight.

If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

Hey, Blue Devil Bob,
ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL?    BoBo and I are rounding up the usual suspects and anyone who wants to participate in the WIAC Pick em's this season.  Want to be sure and get you involved on time this year.  ;D

The WIAC'ers want to make sure they recruit the guy who finishes at or near the bottom of the pick 'em's every year.  :D

Hell, ya! Wouldn't be the same without you and you never know.  This could be your year!   ;)

Well, the Aussies have just started against the Yanks in basketball.  Normally, I would betray a little disloyalty in this situation and cheer for the Aussie squad, since I can't stand the gangster culture in the NBA.  But Kobe Bryant, of all people, has brought me back to team USA for this match.  So all is right with the world.

How can you possibly hate the NBA but like Kobe? That's like saying you hate murderers but idolize Charles Manson. Unless, of course, you don't think a married man throwing it in the a$$ of a hotel worker and then giving his wife a 3 million dollar apology ring is ridiculous, to say nothing of his redic habit of throwing his teammates/coach under the bus when he loses. Or trying to mimic MJ's every move and denying it at every turn.

Don't get me wrong — I love NBA basketball — but there's just a ton of stuff to dislike about Mamba. Here are just a few other viable options to slake your basketball thirst. The last one is my favorite.

I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

TDT sighting in the Seattle area?  The hot pink panties would appear to be a dead giveaway.

Yes, there is a God, and He is obviously a Johnnie fan. They just announced that the East Texas Bethel game has been changed to start at 1:00 p.m. instead of 11:00 a.m.

Veek- do you still want to meet at 6?

Fins - it is with great sadness that I have to report that I will not be able to attend the home opener.  I'm in charge of our Lions food booth at the LF Arts & Crafts Fair that weekend so I won't be able to make it.  I can't recall the last time that I missed a home opener but such is life.

+k for your twig and berries post.

Sure, you'd rather sell hot dogs to a horde of old bags than dispense beers from your tailgate to a horde of ne'er-do-wells.
Well, duty calls. We'll miss you(r beers).

Fins, How was the WE Fest? I have been gone most of the last week. I apologize if you have already posted your report about the drunken debauchery that took place out there! ;)
You pretty much summed it up right there, Sum. Nothing really new to report. Great show, great time!

Dusty;

Great idea on the training camp blog.  Love it.

Now, if I could only print it out...  in reverse chronological order so that most recent entry is on top. (he jokingly chides while channeling tmerton.  I figured I would save him the effort of typing ;) )

Oz;  You must have access to some of the behind the scenes discussion with the www.JohnnieFootball.com group.... Mr. Shoes' "to do" list includes coding the web pages for easy printing......  anything to keep tmerton entertained during his cross-country air trips.

I heard Delta has on-board internet access now...

There hasn't been a merger yet so NWA is still NWA, not Delta.  But when/if it ever does take place ...

  • Will the crabby NWA flight attendants still be crabby?

  • Will they still give worthless coupons when their flights are delayed?

  • Will I still be able to buy an exit row seat for $35? (Expensive, but a life-saver sometimes)

As for Mr. Shoes - stick in there, guy.  However, only seeing is believing.

Exactly.  I'm surprised myself.  The last bonehead a person could expect to represent the NBA well is that bonehead.  But in the last week he's given a couple interviews that have been quite good so I figure I'll support the dream team for this tournament.  Sometimes pigs do fly.
