How 'bout these...

Reverend Ole was the pastor of the local Norwegian Lutheran Church and Pastor Sven was the minister of the Swedish Covenant Church across the road. I saw them yesterday standing by the road, pounding a sign into the ground, that reads:
"Da End iss Near! Turn Yourself Aroundt Now! Before It"s Too Late!"
As a car sped past them, the driver leaned out his window and yelled, "Leave us alone, you religious nuts!"
From the curve we heard screeching tires and a big splash.
Rev. Ole turns to Pastor Sven and asks, "Do ya tink maybe da sign should yust say 'Bridge Out'?"

You're a hockey family?

The interesting thing about the line in question is that I have most often heard it referring to what other people label the mother of the kid who isn't very good yet mom is always complaining about her son/daughter not seeing the ice enough.

I have no idea as to the quality of her son's hockey career, but that joke (which is not new) isn't necessarily flattering around a Minnesota rink.

I hear what you are saying j-esq, but your take sounds more like a hockey dad.  ;)

A hockey mom to me is tough, and determined not to let her 3 year old hit her 2 year old with a hockey stick while she is busy tying her 5 year old's skates.

That plus they jump into the concession stand whenever they see the need to help out.  :)

When I coached pux up there, Wasilla wasn't really a hotbed for talent. It was mostly known for strip malls and a place where the bars only closed from 5-6 a.m. (also known as "car time").

AAAARRRRRRRRGH!

All those nice folks I enjoyed chatting with over the off-season?  Hate 'em!  I feel the competitive juices stirring.  The ugly one-eyed supporter is busting to come out and scream GOOOOOOOOOO JOHNNIES!!!

So while I can still force out a little gentlemanly behavior, let me apologize to all and sundry in advance for whatever rabid boosterisms may be typed by my alter ego.  It can't be helped.

I can feel Mr. Hyde breaking lose.... Good-bye, all.  See you again in Decemb...

Been looking over the depth chart.  Should I be concerned that the average height of the top 4 CB's is 5' 10" with none over 6'? :-\

That's the kind of point I think she may have been trying to make, flattering or not.  She was setting herself apart from the sort of person who goes over to Germany and apologizes for America, or the kind of person who wanted to run away from the terrorists rather than support the surge for victory.  America needs more ice time.

Can I beg that we don't discuss any election personalities?  It's just gonna get ugly.

It's got me worried.  Well, that and the fact that none of them appear to be all that good or else they would have been playing (well, playing better in Haik's case) last season.

Haik did lead the team in passes broken up?  Maybe the front line and lb's will get good enough pressure on the QB to help out.  There's enough depth there that they should be able to come hard all game?

I heard someone suggest that Gov Palin do a photo shoot with the "Hanson" brothers, complete with glasses. That would be quite thedeal if you ask me.

I'd say it's pretty much normal.  I can't remember too many tall CBs for the Johnnies in the past 8 or so years.  There were a few, but our CBs have generally been pretty small.

What number on the radio dial is the most powerful signal for the St. Johns Football broadcast?  I think they have one of the best broadcast teams around.  They put on a better program than do the radio networks for most Big Ten teams.

Hello again to everyone.  I saw where I received a nomination for the pick'em contest.  Thanks for the consideration.

Looking at the poll question I think the only two losses by MIAC teams this week.  Concordia traveling to Oregon will be tough for them.  I also think St. Thomas will fall to Mac.  I just cannot see the UST being that good this year, but they may surprise me.  I think SJU has to be the most confident win this week.  ETBU does not excite me.  After glancing at their roster I did not see anything that stood out to me.  Texas breeds a culture of D1 or bust.

St. Olaf has me impressed this year.  Olszewski appears to be a great coach, and I think he has the potential to do some big things with Olaf.  Brian Senske has also joined the Ole Football staff.  Senske brings a great knowledge of the passing game to Olaf.  I am not sure if Olaf goes over the hump and makes the playoffs.  They do have to replace Matt Penz at QB.  I know there were better players on the team last year, but he is the hardest to replace.

Overall this should be a good season for the MIAC.
