Are there any Bethel posters on here anymore? Big game this week and no action on the boards. Just wondering. I know you St. John's fans don't care too much about the Royals.

I think many of us are around.  Personally I'm saving my breath until the SJU blowhards turn their attention to the October 4th match up.

But maybe they will keep their mouth shut this year after having to eat so many words the last couple years  :o

BDB

Got to run to a business meeting with SamWill47sju in the big city of Knapp, WI.

I know he is buddies with some of you, and will convey best wishes.  ::)

For those that attended:

On the radio, it seemed like ETBU were able to continually disrupt the Johnnies flow on both O and D.  It seemed as if the Jays were unable to execute cleanly, although the highlights film (video, whatever - get over it) showed some well executed plays (obviously, being highlights).  The question: did it appear in person as it sounded on radio that ETBU was able to befuddle Johnnie players and continually disrupt execution?  Or where the Jays just rusty?

EDIT and Follow-up: Being that the Johnnies offensive philosophy, greatly simplified, is "find a play that works and keep running it until it doesn't", does the fact that sustained drives were rare mean that ETBU were anticipating changes in play selection and shutting them down or were the Johnnies just rusty and unable to execute cleanly the sets of plays that have sustained us for years?

If you think losing will shut us up, you clearly don't understand what it means to be a JOHNNIE 8)

Yeah, Oz, I heard it that way too.

My take is that any time you win while having open auditions for QB -- especially trying out 3 -- it's a good thing.

While this falls into the ol' "too much credit for winning and too much blame losing" for that spot, there are so many things that can happen doing this .... and more bad things than good. It has to be done and I'm just glad when the game ended it was a W.

Why are you up now?

Oz,

No flow in the offense QBs played tight knowing that any mistake can mean the end of any playing time. I don't know why the O line was not able to to get anything going, that perhaps was rust, Saturday will tell the story there. I think EBTU will be better than 5-5 this year, but I don't see them winning their conference.

This week will be an unknown as well as UWRF graduated a ton (inside cheeseland reference) last year.

Every week the Johniies will have to prove themselves. I think the MIAC will be very fun to watch this year.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Why are you up now?

Went to bed at 9 last night and woke up at 4:30 wide awake.

If my old man reads this I'll be getting the, "I woke up every day at 4:30 to milk the cows and feed the cattle.  Then I rode a horse to school..."

I think ETBU had some very good athletes and size.  As I recall their nose tackle went about 315' and their tight end had to be pushing 300'.  When he got loose in the secondary on his TD run it was like a freight train.

Plus one of the running into the kicker penalties was on a sprint out to the left by the kicker where he pulled up at the last second and got the kick away.  I believe this then turned out to be a scoring drive for them when it could have easily been a turnover on downs for the Johnnies.

So, putting my best spin on it, ETBU may have had more to do with the uneven flow of the Johnnies and a couple of breaks go the other direction and it's a 3-4 TD win.

Great article on johnniefootball.com, TC.  I appreciate your work.

My favorite bit:

Yes, this is a team that still has more questions than answers. But Saturday was a great day to remember—even if the rain clouds were waiting to accompany fans to their cars postgame—that the sun always shines on Johnnie Football.

Thank you, Oz.  I do my best.

Your work is greatly appreciated, especially by those of us who don't get to make it to games.

LOL, no problem. I only suggested the other board in thoughts you might like banter from the Illinoisans.

This former Illinoisian has thrown in the towel on the Tigers, but Pat is right that you might be able to engage White Sox fan Titan Q (just about everyone else seems to be a Cubs fan) if you set up an Anything Goes page.
