Ok - Cobbers are up this week.  I wouldn't presume to ask any of you johnniefootball.com all-stars to preempt your preview this week, but I think it will be a brawl.  An unexpected break-out from CON and a last minute affair yet again.  Will our air game be enough? Yes, I think it will, but it will be exciting.

Oz,
The Cobbers are tough every year and this has been a much better rivalry than U-STD since the early 80's Guggomos led Tommie teams. That being said, if the SJU O & D lines can play like last week and the QB play is steady, I see another Johnnie win.

Stay tune for the prediction segment on Saturday morning at your favorite site for SJU Football www.JohnnieFootball.com
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

The White Silly

For some reason my trusty gut tells me the Cobbs are going to be a slight surprise upending the J's 24-21 this weekend at Clemens...Go Cobbs...

What I dislike about hockey is fighting.  Sure, fighting is fun to watch if you're talking boxing, wrestling, etc.  But it just seems like it's not part of the game.  The purpose of the game is to skate and put the puck in the net.  Fighting, to me, shows a lack of discipline.  It would be like clocking someone in a football game.

Honest question, Duff: Do you think there would be less Bethel bottom-of-the-pile grabassing or Augsburg after-the-whistle heroics if those players (or their teammates) knew that they would have to pay for those kinds of plays by fighting the other team's "enforcer"?  Because obviously there's a reason for fighting (or the threat thereof) in hockey, to protect the skill players from goons taking unnecessary shots at them.
That's the difference between hockey now and then. When you messed with skill players named Rocket Richard, Gordie Howe, Beliveau, Boom Boom etc. the only outcome in question was the number of stitches you would need. No goons just first time offenders or slow learners.

Well, a big deciding factor for our performance against the Cobbers will be Crees.  The last couple years we would complain (some louder than others, not calling anyone out Zip) about number 11 not being 100% in the clutch, his best clutch performance being his first game.

I've got a good feeling on Crees, based more on wishful thinking and blissful ignorance than anything else, and I hope he's Mr Monday Night for us.  Any chance that my hopes of seeing a Johnnie team with great guts in the heat of the match are good hopes?

Interesting development - I'm currently watching Johnnie soccer (yeah, and I'm getting a lobotomy later this afternoon) live streaming against Mn Morris.

It can't be too much longer and we'll have that Johnnie football streaming.  Probably have to work out a deal with radio and we'll be flying.

Over John's cold dead body. :D  Seriously, though, it was fun watching the game that was streamed last year (Hamline I think).  I also was happy last year when the River Falls game was shown later in the week on one of the Fox regional broadcasts (won't do you much good down in Knitting-land obviously).  But there may need to be a coaching change before that happens from Clemens Stadium.

Yeah, you're right tmert.

A few seasons back there used to be that choppy pressbox web cam and even that was too much for JG. You couldn't really follow the play but you could get an idea of field position and big gainers ..... Playing that with the radio guys' audio was a slight improvement but it didn't last long.

Say what you want to about Crees or even AK, either are a step up from Tavaris Jackson

Here is why the Johnnies will win on Saturday:

The Classic Lake Conference never lies.

Crees went to Wayzata, the Cobbs QB Nelson went to Tonka.
Wayzata has beaten Minnetonka the last 4 years.   While it is true that a tonka grad, keating, led the johnnies to the promised land,  Wayzata features the barbers, Marion and Dominique, along with James Laurinaitis.

..........i'll still take the cobbs in the pickem though. ;D

Cobbernation is going to bring some sweet corn to the Stiftungsfestivities this Saturday. He needs a pot for the corn and a heating source. Anyone out there who can help us with this? Let me know. Thanks.
