Agree with the story on Nate Anderson, fins.

What I don't understand is the quarterback discussion.  Crees was deemed by the coaches to have played the best in the first game, played the entire second game in a good win for SJU, and started the 3rd game and went 3 for 3 before getting yanked before the end of the 1st quarter and was never seen (or heard from) again.  Granted, he was pulled after he fumbled, but all the QBs fumbled in the game; Boyle fumbled twice.  Unless Crees is injured, as RedTooth suggested but has never been announced, why isn't he at least in the conversation here?  To parahrase Catch-22, it's like they've disappered him.  Maybe the Daily Planet will be able to uncover and publish something on this.

There are many attributes that make up a great quarterback. Many have a few of them, some have some of them, few have many of them.

I don't have the specific answers to your questions tmerts, but look for Boyle to start, but probably not play the whole game...developing.

Haven't had a chance to read the sports yet today, perchance does anybody know what Delmon's average is up to now?

Tmerton, part of the decision may be his tendency to throw interceptions.  In '05 he had 1 int in 30 passes, '06 he had 4 int's in 34 passes and so far this year he had 2 in 31 passes.  That's an int every 13.5 passes.  By comparison Kofed had an int every 28 passes in his last three years.  (couldn't find his FR stats).

Yeah, but he had no INTs at all in 07! ;)  I'm not carrying any water for Crees really; I just don't understand the way the coaches are handling this.  First he's #3, then he's #1 and then he's nowhere at all.  BTW, 05 was his FR year.

Personally I don't get too worried about interceptions as long as the TD/Int ratio is high and you aren't throwing them where they can be returned for TD's.  In other words throwing a ball deep down the middle where 10% of the time you get a TD, 10% of the time an int, 20% other reception and 60% incomplete seems like a good mix, especially if the interceptions are not much worse than a punt.  This was the not well described point of an earlier post I had about opening up the passing game The results mix I'm throwing out there may not be a realistic expectation.  Just seems to me that the deep and mid-range passes we have been using have been working pretty well, just not enough of them.

But I wonder if Jimmy G's strategy is sustained drives at the expense of quick strike possibilities.  Seems like the good teams in the past had the ability to do both, based on what the situation needed.

And, yes the QB has to have time to throw, but I thought Boyle was getting enough time when he rolled out.  When the first option on the roll out is to go deep, it doesn't seem like it limits the field too much as long as you are prudent in the risk taking.  Plus the option to run to avoid the sack should be more available on a roll out.

P.S.  Congratulations on your 2500th post.

So I went to the Twins game last evening.  I'm still smiling, but I can't talk.

Expect some somber news out of Collegeville shortly-- unrelated to football, thankfully, but not very uplifting, to say the least.

I will hold off on telling more until the announcement is made by the school.

Has an announcement not been made?   I received an e-mail from Rob Culligan.

Now that it is official, sad to hear it-- Dietrich has always been a kind, albeit gentle and supportive prexy.

Here's hoping to a full (though from what I understand is somewhat unlikely) recovery.
