CC Backer

Ok, so i need to explain my comments about the Cobber offense i guess.

First of all I wasn't saying that we weren't able to run the ball on saturday.  I was stating that I thought that some of the play calling was questionable.  We were able to run on Bethel so why were we trying to throw as much as we did???? There were a handful of series where CC tried to throw the football instead of run and it ended up in punting situations.  I agree we need to work on the passing game, its no where near where it needs to be if we want to get through the rest of the MIAC and have a chance in a playoff game.  But if we're able to run the ball then run the damn ball!!  Use the pounding running game to set up our play action passing game thats what I'm saying.  Nelson is not Schumacher and our recievers aren't Pace or Reile!! So lets give them as much help as possible and try to catch the DB's getting sucked up toward the line.  I just think they tried to get a little to pass happy in the wrong situations.

As for the rest of the MIAC schedule....I feel we have the ability to beat the remaining teams on our schedule but the Cobbers definately can't take any of them lightly.  Especailly the Auggies.  A good passing game has always created trouble for CC defenses, and we don't have the offense to try and get back in a game if we fall behind by a few scores early.  I hope they are able to get everyone prepared for the up coming games and get some more Ws.  They are a good team, but its to soon to tell if they're a great one.

Mr. Ypsi

After an intensely disappointing season, we nearly swept the Rays (2 wins and an 11th inning loss), so we'll do our best to keep the Twins from having to play on Tuesday. ;)

Those bottom-feeding Royals can get mean in September - just two years ago they gave you the division title by sweeping the Tigs.  Since we were in the post-season anyhoo, this year is more do-or-die.  I hope we can keep you from a game against the Pale Hose. :D

Well, Friday was my last day of employment at the old boss and this coming Monday will be my start at the new gig in the sky.  Almost no travel so I'm looking forward to many years with my family, although we may have to revisit that statement when the girls hit their teens.

So, we got a Johnnie pumping of the Gusties, a Hawks victory over the kitties, and a new job.  All in all, a good weekend.

I may be offline for a week or two until I get the new job sorted out.  Also I'll miss the game this weekend as we're taking a short trip up to Queensland for the spring school holidays.  Beaches, high-rises, amusement parks, etc.  If I see some guy walking along in a bomber pilot cap with the flaps poking out I'll think I'm in Florida.

Cobbernation,

Why was Flannery out of the game VS. the Cobbers? Injury or just needed a breather?

He was injured on a play at the end of the 3rd or beginning of the 4th quarter.  I didn't see him return to the game.  The put in #45 in his place and he is a more of a bowling ball type back that can only run up the middle and not those pesky stretch plays.

The White Silly

It's going to be a Concordia vs Augsburg showdown for the MIAC title...I still like Augsburg...hey cobbers, I know Cory Johnson only gets the medium amount of carries because of the offense you guys run...but don't you think they should find a way to get the ball more to him?...he's a gamebreaker and a lot of fun to watch...also, my apologies...I was wrong about Jesse Nelson...he's a good quarterback...Go Detroit Tigers!

The Cobbs start winning and the posters start coming out of the woodwork :)  Or did Moorhead just get the internet now?

stanbob - Creditable? Really?

Apologies for the name blunder, but the next time I listen to an SJU football broadcast will be the first. I could have sworn the Johnnie fan said Linneman, but he *did* say the guys were going nuts in the booth and dropped an F-bomb on air. It was after the apparent missed facemask early in the game in front of the SJU bench. For what it's worth, it sure looked like a facemask to me.

Duffy - Guilty, but I'll still come eat all of JR's food ;) Thanks for the hospitality guys, especially Veek!

Can anyone confirm that DustySJU is still alive and not in jail? Last time I saw him, it looked like he was going to kill someone...

I highly doubt that the F-bomb was dropped on the air.  Maybe VOJ has some insight.
As to the apparent facemask, it looked like it, but I don't think it was.  I think he grabbed inside the collar of the shoulder pads (and that is with my red blinders on!).

I was listening and remember very well the facemask call and the exasperation of the SJU broadcast crew - but there absolutely was no F-bomb.  Didn't happen.

Fair enough, I'll let it go.

I just thought it was especially humorous coming from an older gentleman who wasn't watching with any friends and was wearing questionable attire (like I should talk with the hat I was wearing...but still). If I had to guess, it's what TDT will look like at games in 20 years. He also questioned the Schoeny Special (quick kick) to the point that myself, Frank and our other buddy got angry and sent him scurrying away in about 20 seconds.
