Tough loss for the Twins, and hard to see them lose to a journeyman pitcher in a pitching duel.  Frustrating because they have had more than a few chances to blow the race open, but as the Cubbies have said for the last 100+ years, "just wait 'till next year."

Now, it's hockey season!  ;D

In full honor of the ability to drop the puck in Minnesota again, I present Kentucky's gift to hockey:

Thanks for that link.  Takes the sting off the end of baseball.  +K

I just might get called for holding, maybe even a double minor for high sticking. Then I'd be going straight to the penalty box.

... but as far as QB, I would guess its a toss up as none of the 3 that have had significant playing time have been very impressive.  I think that saturday will be a struggle for Bethel unless their offense really gets things figured out this week.

Where have I heard this before?  Strange to have another team with such a similar situation at the QB position.  Hopefully we're a couple of games ahead of the Royals in getting this position settled.

Recent Exchange on the phone:

Ritz: Honey, I think I'd be much more fun to be around at the reception if I went to the game instead of the wedding.

Mrs. Ritz:  That's funny, if you go to the game, your definition of fun will change drastically.

Ritz:  (silence)

Mrs. Ritz: By the way, WE are going out with all the girls on Friday night.

Ritz:  False

Mrs. Ritz:  It wasn't a question.

Ritz:  Chose one: wedding or Friday Night Bennie

Mrs. Ritz:  *&% you, you are doing both

Ritz:  You are sooooo lucky I married up!

Mrs. Ritz:  Never forget that!

Translation:  I will be enjoying drinks with the Bennies of Friday night, and not be in attendance at the game on Saturday.  However, if you do see my on Saturday, please be advised that I may be looking for a place to crash for a little while!!!

Ritz - I hear Frank made some friends with the Class of '83 last weekend. I'm sure he could help you find a place to crash for awhile :D
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

Obviously I made her sound much nicer than she actually was in the conversation.   ;D

All I can say:

Better women.

I think that the Ole-Carl game should be much more competitive than last year.  The Oles won't be putting up 85 points anytime soon, but the Defense is going to be playing with a chip on their shoulder after last week.  Carleton, I'm assuming, is flying high, and feeling good about themselves, but they've played cream puffs so far.  Plus, its the Ole homecoming.

The twins did do a whole lot better this year than I was expecting at the beginning of the year, still a bummer that they could get no offense going last night.  Hopefully they do get a big bat (3B or DH) this offseason, but they've been needing one for years and haven't done anything.  With the new stadium around the corner maybe they can do better than Mike Lamb and the other retreads they continually pick up only to last part way through the season.

At least it is Ole week for the knights.  I think they probably have a better shot at beating them this year than they've had the past few as Northfield Community College seems a little down this year.  It would be nice to finally see the eagle pointed in the right direction for a change.

With their current crop of young outfielders, I would love to see Cuddyer move to 3rd, bring in a legitimate Right handed bat at DH... Rondell White does not count as legitimate, neither did Tony Bautista or Mike Lamb. I want a guy who isn't already 5 years past his prime, or in Lamb's case a guy who never had a prime.

I vaguely remember TC explaining why Cuddy at 3rd and keeping the outfield as is would be a bad idea, but I could really use a refresher course.
