Geez, SCSU wins a couple of games and they want to eat with the big dog.  File this under Won't Happen. ;)

Good article until the writer tries to establish SCSU as the premier program in central Minnesota in the midst of one season in which the Huskies have gone 3 -1.

Wow.... doesn't take much to overcome the current Amos Alonzo Stagg recipient and the record holder for most seasons coached.... wow, SCSU coach Scott Underwood must be a great football mind!

... it would be a fun matchup however!

Anyone notice that the "New" Conference rankings are contained in the newest Around The Nation? Do you really think that the CCIW is the #3 conference in the nation, and the MIAC #5?

Actually, ATN pegs CCIW as #4, MIAC as #7.

I also thought it was kind of funny how the writer referred to UWW as a D3 school rather than the D3 National Champion.

Remember that SCSU is now part of the highly esteemed NSIC.  It must be a banner year for them if they're competing with Grade A programs like U of Mary and Upper Iowa.  It's a tragedy that the NCC disbanded and that the NC00 has made a mockery of D-II athletics with its position on scholarships at the D-II level.  I don't see the logic of everyone who is anyone moving up to FBS (formerly D-1 AA) or whatever it is now.  I forget if this was the result of Title IX or the product of the intellectual atrophy being experienced by the several non-athletic - wouldn't know a baseball if it him them in the noses --geeks (university professors/administrators) in charge of the NC00.

To give SCSU its due, they did beat UWW.  So maybe we don't want to emphasize that point.

I knew there was a reason that I hadn't deleted that key, despite TWS's return to earth this year.

And I really liked where it stated that beating the Johnnies would be a recruiting "coop" for SCSU.

I have been corrected on the rankings, but the point still holds.

Ypsi - Go to the respective conference web page to find out, but a few of the teams are Wheaton, Elmhurst, Carthage, North Central, Augustana and Illinois Wesleyan. Maybe your not knowing is a good answer to my point.

I wasn't the one who wondered (I'm a CCIW guy and you got 6; the other two are Millikin and North Park - but in football lately, we try to forget them too! :D), but, fear not, I got corrected on the ranking also - MIAC is 6th, not 7th (7th was their Kickoff ranking; we passed the Empire 8, you can too!).

I suspect the difference in conference rankings is depth (or the perception thereof).  We haven't had a team as strong as SJU has (previously?) been since Augie won the 4 straight national titles in the early 80s (but we also had not had a tourney team lose to ANYONE in at least a decade outside of the OAC until they imported UWW to the North region last year), and North Park MAY be weaker than any MIAC team, but I'd bet good money that our middle would beat your middle most years.  (Oh, man, way to kill your karma, Mr. Ypsi! :D)

Long time listener, first time caller to the Great White Silly show. Love you, love your show.

I have 2 comments and a question then I'll hang up and listen.

1. Ducks was a great flick when I was 12. It got me into roller hockey which was cool because the hot chick down my road was in to roller hockey too. Unfortunately she was not into 5' tall 150lb 12 year olds at that time, so all I got out of the deal was a few new scars from wipeouts.
2. Tostitos Hint of Lime could be the best chips ever.

My question is this: Aren't you contradicting yourself by putting a question mark at the end of the question of "who needs punctuation?"?
