Im really impressed by the Auggies this year. They are looking real good. I believe they will win their division the way they are playing. You have to agree with me. No on they played so far has been able stop the presence of Air Auggie. And their defense is astounding. A great future is in store for the Auggie. Believe that.

You obviously know what you're talking about, since it appears you spend a lot of time watching the games.

F' the haters, man.  I'm pulling for Auggie Tech.  You have to agree with me.  Believe that.

Who's with me?  LAB?  Silly?  DeAndre?  Muneer?

Crown--DEAD!
Wartburg--DEAD!!
St. Olaf--DEAD!!!
Hamline--DEAD!!!!

CARLETON?  DEAD!!!!!

COBBERS? ROYALS?  JOHNNIES?!?!?!?  DEAD! DEAD!  DEAD!!!!

You have to agree with me!

TC-

I'd prefer that you go with the other Common Man version and actually challenge the mascot, vs. just the DEAD!

I like the version of:

Crown Storm....  Downgraded to a low pressure system
Wartburg Knights....  Made into just Pawns
St. Olaf Oles.....  Maybe should have been Sven????  (Clueless on what you'd do with the Ole Mascot!)
Hamline Pipers.....  Returned to the rats!

Your post was great though!

I'm a bit miffed at the current guys giving bulletin board material to the Knights. When I played, I would have preferred the other team to be overlooking us, and maybe allow us to get lucky! I guess my sentiment isn't shared by all!

I'm with you though, TC! I'd take a great run from my boys. If you want to support them, no matter how sarcastically you do it, I'll still take it!  It is just great to have a Johnnie fan on board!

I'll be emailing the current guys to suggest they not post in such a manner (especially when their identities are so easy to discover!)

Go Auggies!
Out of order, I'll show you out of order! You don't know what out of order is, Mr Task! I'd show you but I'm too old, I'm too tired, and I'm too f----n blind. If I were the man I was 5 years ago, I'd take a FLAMETHROWER to this place. Out of order, who the hell do you think you're talking to?

I wouldn't take to taunting "bennie.' You may be asking for a replay of the unfortunate Denny Pratt tragedy. It would rival the whopping that "Poodle" Lussier put on him, and I doubt if she would have to go into semi-seclusion in northern Oregon as he has done in Northern Quebec.

I always thought that one of the best things about playing Torrey Pines was watching the F-16's and the roar of those fighters from Mira Mar as they fly over the course on their way out to sea.

Far from taunting. just some VERY good natured ribbing! I think she can handle the HEAVY sarcasm and know that it is all done with total respect!

Actually it has a more specific meaning than that - it is taking pleasure in the misfortune of others.

NICE! I actually DO have a moniker:  Beaten-Ump Guy.  I was one of the first instances in MN (the one that PBS did the story on) of a parent coming out of the crowd to punch the umpire because of an on-field incident.  I was the Ump that got punched. I was 17 at the time, and was calling a game where the parent-in-questions son was catching. There was an attempted straight steal of home that the batter didn't know about cut the catcher saw coming. He stepped out to take the pitch and tag the runner. Batter unknowingly swung at the pitch and hit the catcher in the shoulder on the way through. Catcher was writhing in pain, so I called time, cleared the players out of the way, and called the catchers coach over to provide care.  The catchers dad came flying around the fence onto the field, sprinted past his kid, directly to me, and punched me in the chest, screaming, "that's my f****** son." I had no Idea what I was supposed to do or say to that other than, "congratulations." Son ended up being fine, batter could never really get around on the pitch to get much momentum going with the bat. There were 3 Northfield police officers IN UNIFORM at the game watching their sons play, and they took the father away.  The city charged him with criminal issues, and he worked some sort of a plea bargain.  But, it DID go on his record!  So, I DO have a Moniker...  Beaten-Ump Guy!

Ack Ack A Dack

Let's keep this Auggie bandwagon going!

I hate to say I (kinda) told ya so, but posted on JohnnieFootball.com back on August 24 when I took a look at the Johnnie schedule:

QuoteAugsburg enters the 2008 season with national credibility (they received votes in the d3football.com Top 25 poll for the first time in the poll's history this preseason), a surprisingly potent passing attack, and hopes of playing meaningful football past the 4th game on their schedule for the first time in years... Still, the fact that I'm even writing about the Auggies in a preseason preview—rather than simply glossing over them like the Pipers two paragraphs prior—means the team is headed in the right direction.

I'd still like to welcome all the Johnnie-come-lately's to the party...

Full disclosure:  In that column, I predicted a non-remarkable Johnnie win over the Auggies.  I stand by that prediction.

Speaking of the Johnnies, I think everything should be back to normal this Saturday: a beautiful day at Clemens Stadium against an overmatched opponent and a lopsided final score.  People are talking about the '08 Johnnies like they are the Washington Generals of the MIAC--that's simply not the truth.

There is still a lot of talent on this team, especially on the defensive side of the ball.  Certainly enough talent to stop the Pipers from putting up a double digit score.  Their problem is their very average skill position players that rely on the offensive line to provide the time and space needed to execute their offense.  Against the top d-lines, like Concordia, Bethel and, I suspect, St. Olaf, this offensive line is going to struggle and take the rest of the offense down with it.  Against an also-ran like Hamline?  Forget about it.  40 to 6 sounds about right.

Edit:  I rite not good.

You mean the same poll that had the Johnnies #6 and Bethel #5?  I'm not sure I'd be bringing that up if I were you...

You only gave the Auggies 3 votes then.  Face it, you've never respected us.  No one's ever respected us.  It's the Auggies against the world, but that changes this Saturday, in Northfield.

Sorry, Coleman.  Bandwagon's full.  No room for you or the rest of the haters.

Schadenfreude = bragging, gloating, etc.

It means, roughly, taking pleasure in another's misfortune.  The fact that that we supporters, not to mention (hopefully) the players and coaches, feel pretty crap about how this season has gone makes poor little Wonka feel better.  Our pain is his pleasure.  Poor little man.
