Justadad;

Fuentes are made using animal labor and at then end of their useful plowing lives the oxen are slaughtered for general consumption in a ravenous meat orgy.  No self-respecting PETA preacher could partake of an 858.  Smoke 'em.

Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!

I walked passed Dean Wormer's office today! I will give you some karma when I can again! ;D

So I'm sitting here in suburban DC amazed at the wonders of cable that allow me to see Eden Prairie-Kennedy on one channel and Stillwater-Edina on another (and Minnetonka vs. a KC school the other night) and I'm thinking that if you have no life and are home on a Friday night that this was at least entertaining.

But then comes the obligatory Bud Grant shot, which is fine until I noticed a lizard-like figure sitting to Bud's left .... Sir Sid.

(He's creepy enough on his own but I can't help thinking I'm seeing the 2091 version of Wonka ... if newspapers last that long.) :)

I know this comes up from time to time, but is there ever going to be a time for a MIAC game o' the week, like the WIAC version?

I need some advice-

On my doorstep I found my brothers annual shipment for the Stearns County PETA meeting held on the first weekend in November.  I know the package well, a box of Fuente 858's with maduro wrappers.  The finest cigars available in any country and always on backorder.  My dilema is do I open the box and bring one with me to Collegeville tommorow for family weekend?  If I do it will, as always, bring back fond memories of attending Johnnie games with my great uncle many years ago.  Or maybe I should just bring an ordinary cigar and still enjoy the game?

post script-  being able to replace the box before November is <5%

Justa- Here's your advice, since you asked. You open the box, but don't bring one cigar, you bring the box. I'll trade you some koolaid and a Hamm's for a heater. Don't worry, I'm used to getting raw deals.

Let's keep this Auggie bandwagon going!

I hate to say I (kinda) told ya so, but posted on JohnnieFootball.com back on August 24 when I took a look at the Johnnie schedule:

As we told you when we published a preseason poll. :)

You mean the same poll that had the Johnnies #6 and Bethel #5?  I'm not sure I'd be bringing that up if I were you...

You only gave the Auggies 3 votes then.  Face it, you've never respected us.  No one's ever respected us.  It's the Auggies against the world, but that changes this Saturday, in Northfield.

Sorry, Coleman.  Bandwagon's full.  No room for you or the rest of the haters.

Stagg Bowl, homeboy.

Yawn. Oh, and yawn.

Looks like a bit of a downer day for Saturday as far as the weather goes. Supposed to rain constantly in Moorhead all day, and I would venture to assume it will be doing relatively the same down in Collegeville. But I'm sure all the MIAC teams will make up for it and entertain like usual.

Here's what I see happening...

AUG @ CAR --- Carleton with the "W"
HAM @ SJU --- Johnnies end their offensive woes and pummel the Pipers.
STO @ BET --- Bethel gets the "W"
GAC @ PLU --- Gusties fall
UST @ COR --- Cobbs with the "W"

Has the grand messiah of MIAC football, his Lordship Willy Wonka, made a stand on the game of the century in Northfield this weekend?  I would go back to read his previous comments, but as it is Friday night and I may become easily nauseated.

I'm geared up for a big game tomorrow.  Big as in big demolition.

I also want to say Go Auggies, because I think this year is their best shot.  CAR will be better next year, methinks, than they even are this year.  A call out to the Cobbers for them to properly open a can of whoop-ass on the Tommies.  I also want to see STO keep winning so when we meet them the game has more significance and will provide a marker for serious consideration when we beat them.

Oh, and Go The Lutes!

BDB-

Schadenfreude = bragging, gloating, etc.

It means, roughly, taking pleasure in another's misfortune.  The fact that that we supporters, not to mention (hopefully) the players and coaches, feel pretty crap about how this season has gone makes poor little Wonka feel better.  Our pain is his pleasure.  Poor little man.
Wow, I have never seen the word Schadenfreude before and now I've seen it in two different places in two days....here is an excerpt from today's StarTribune:

By JAMES LILEKS, Star Tribune
Pardon us if we snicker over Petters charges
Why do we dote on every detail of the Petters scandal? The Germans have a word for it -- schadenfreude, which means "ha ha!," more or less. Happiness over another's misfortune is usually an unattractive emotion, unless they really had it coming. This fellow was like someone who hijacks the air-trafffic controller frequencies and directs all the planes to land on his roof.

I saw it in a book or some place other than this board yesterday and definately noticed it and was a little weirded out as it is not a common word, but apparently it's making a comeback.

Should be a beatiful day in Northfield today, definately looking forward to getting down there and seeing the Knights whoop some Auggies for homecoming.  I'm assuming that there will be a pretty big crowd (for Carleton), and I hope the game doesn't dissapoint.

I think the Knights have a better defense, and although they give up too many yards they get real tough in the red zone and always seem to make the big plays when they need it.  I think Ziller and Hanks will have huge days, and the offense will get it done, as they have too many weapons.

My biased prediction is a Knights victory.  33 - 13, the same score from the only other time the Knights and Auggies have met when both were undefeated (1-0) in 1985, and the Knights won that one.
