I've decided that none of the MIAC teams are very good this year.

I think it's quite the opposite.  We are all so good and very even.  Much like the WIAC we are just beating each other up so bad and now won't get a second team in the playoffs because of it.  It's just not fair.  We should get two or three AQ's this year and every year from now on out.  THE REAL MIAC HAS ARRIVED!

I'm going to stay with what I said a few weeks ago: the Corn-heads will be the automatic qualifier.  This has got to be the most bizarre MIAC season in a long, long time.  Not only the jumbled race for the title, but also the way some of these critical games are being decided.  Makes for entertaining reading every Saturday afternoon.

As far as the state of the conference, I think the jury is still out but must admit I'm pessimistic about the MIAC reps chances.  We'll see in a few weeks. ;D

so I make a split decision at about 3:05 while coming back home to stop by St. Thomas and see how the game is going.  I take the first spot about 8 blocks from the stadium, though I probably could have got closer.  to be honest, I was a bit lost in the neighborhood only generally knowing where St. Thomas was.  start walking with the missus and we can start to hear the crowd get louder and louder giving me the indication that 1, we are getting closer, and 2, the game must be getting close.  we get to the north endzone by the dorms and are just in time to see waldvogel make the catch at the 1.  that's all I have to say about that..

no... i'm pretty sure everyone sucks this year, its just that some teams suck less than others.

...also, what the HELL went on today?  ???
GAC over the worms?  UST dropping the ball LITERALLY against SJU? Concordia handling augsburg?  bethel needing last second heroics against the ham-dogs?  OUR PETS HEADS ARE FALLING OFF!? this year is crazy...

Lone Auggie Backer

Wow! Congrats to the Cobbers. We were beaten by Concordia in every phase of the game. Their D-line dominated us. Their offensive line handled us all day. Their receivers owned our defensive backs, their defensive backfield shut down our receivers. They pressured Jordan all day long, they shut down our running game. The Cobbers were way more physical on kickoff, their punt return team hit like hammers. The Cobbers earned a win today in a BIG way.  I would like to personally take the blame for the last two losses. In the first four games that Auggies played, I arrived in time to get some pictures of the pre-game warm-ups. I saw the opening kickoff, and celebrated a WIN in each game. I didn't make it to Carleton until game time, I didn't make it today until half-way through the first quarter. So, obviously the two losses are my fault. My apologies to my Auggies!
Hats off to Concordia. They showed up to play today, and took the win home with them by beating us, literally, in every phase of the game of football.
Too bad for the Auggies. We got the huge upset win we needed from the Gusties, yet ran into a massive brick wall today that was covered in Maroon and Gold.
Need a big week this week versus the Gusties!

Out of order, I'll show you out of order! You don't know what out of order is, Mr Task! I'd show you but I'm too old, I'm too tired, and I'm too f----n blind. If I were the man I was 5 years ago, I'd take a FLAMETHROWER to this place. Out of order, who the hell do you think you're talking to?

Great game in northfield today.

Carleton looked elite when they had frank in on offense.  Even when he didn't get the ball other players seemed to step up and make plays when he was in.  This carleton team has some major players on both sides of the ball.  Great game by the gusties today.  Chad Arlt (and another receiver) carried them with numerous clutch grabs.  I thought this would be a tough game for carelton and that was definitely the truth.

However, this team is a blocked extra point away from being undefeated.  This team is for real and has 4 more games to make their case for the conference championship.

What a difference a week makes. The Cobber machine that I've been waiting all season to get uncorked (offensively) finally took out some frustrations at the expense of Augsburg today. Most of the ball-handlers from last years offense that averaged something like 50 points per game (yes I could look it up, but trust me, it was around there) are back this year, and until today you never would have known it.

After last week's disappointment at UST, I was hoping for a "hungry" outing, and it did in fact turn into a frenzy on both sides of the ball. Augsburg had 263 yards in the air to the Cobbers' 217, but they were 30 of 63 (4+ yards/attempt) compared to Concordia's 8 of 13 (16+ yards per attempt). VERY refreshing to see the air attack click.

I will give kudos to Augsburg for pulling off the FINEST onside kick execution I have ever witnessed. The sideline kick could not have been thrown with any greater accuracy.

Congrats to Cory Johnson for crossing the 3000 yard milestone for his illustrious career.

GREAT DAY TO BE A COBBER!
If the human brain were so simple that we could fully understand it...we would be so simple that we couldn't.

Has the cream risen to the top or sunk to the bottom?  I think it's a combination of the two but the fact is that no team has demonstrated any real consistency.  I know that I'm biased but I think it is a year where there is no dominant team (SJU) and everyone else is pretty good.  I really don't think the MIAC deserves more than 1 team in the post season and I don't think our one team will do much in the second season.

Tweetybird....I think it is becoming more apparent as the weeks go on that the MIAC is weak this year with only one team deserving of a playoff bid.  I don't know that mediocrity deserves multiple playoff berths.  The only variable will be the other conference train wrecks that are likely to occur before year end around the region.  What MIAC team in recent memory (expanded playoffs or before) has been left home when they were deserving of a playoff berth?

I will also go on record to state that unless SJU or Bethel make the playoffs, the MIAC rep is likely to get shell-shocked in the first round.  Lack of experience is not a good ingredient come playoff time.  The last point regarding your statement; the MIAC is not a physical conference and the notion that the teams are beating each other up is ridiculous.

Glad to see that a big play went SJU's way once this year ;D ;D

The MIAC is more physical this year than it has been in years...
