Woke up this morning at 3:00 from a dream where the Johnnies went 62 yards in 5 plays to beat Carleton.  Wow, how often does a dream match reality?  Wait...is this a Dallas deal and I'll come out of my shower this morning to find the whole season was a dream?

Jeff Schnobrick is my pick for MVP of the year off of just that performance yesterday.

As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Not so. They had Wartburg going to UWSP.

That's because they changed the original pairings. UW-SP was to go to Monmouth; which makes no sense.

The bracket "WILL" be as follows:

Occidental @Willamette
SJU @UW-SP
DePauw (or other) @Monmouth
Wartburg @UW-W

Although I don't know that DePauw is in.

It makes more sense to put Aurora into the west and DePauw in the North. I believe both are listed as #7 seeds in Pat's guess work.
Also, I realize the stats don't bear this out, but after listening to Jimmy yesterday on the raido, it would not surprise me if SJU hosted a first round game. I know, nothing supports that, but the NCAA did that last year or the year before. Besides Monmouth has some stadium issues, I know they have some "temporary" fencing, but we will see.

Game story up at www.JohnnieFootball.com

Very nice write up.  Impressive finale to a difficult regular season from the team yesterday.  After Bethel, I never thought they'd be here.   The last drive has to give the offense some much needed confidence.   How an offense can go from vacillating between good plays and mistakes that kill drive after drive to doing what it did in 5 plays and 27 seconds is beyond me.  CC's defense was allowing some stuff but was still playing pretty tough.  The offense has to be convinced now that they can do such things when they want to.  Let's hope they take it to that level for good in the playoffs.

To CC fans:  Who is the old weird guy that talks to everyone at Hoopers (or whatever that place is).  This might not be the name but there is a sub shop (a lot like Bo Diddley's) on main street that looks like it's a very popular place.  Brice and I stopped there and had this weird old guy at our table the whole time.  He was harmless enough and he actually was a decent fellow but he seemed to have a couple bats in the belfry.   He sure doesn't like college professors.

Thanks Johnnies for making my first game in almost 30 years one to remember.  It was great getting to meet many of the posters on here, in no particular order JJR, TDT, LBean, DustySJU, ROR and son, OAS and everyone else.  Lets see what next week brings!

Stanbob,

Great to meet you as well.

You sure picked a doosey for your first game in 30 years.

I have dubbed the Johnnies the Cardiac Cardinal (and Blue). I will not copyright, so feel free to use as desired. It's amazing how error prone they can be for most of the game, and then do what is needed flawlessly when it's all or nothing.

Pat, here are some words for your synopsis of SJU, "If the offense plays like it did in the last 51 seconds against Carleton, the regional final is a good possibility."

Touchdown Tommy

Can someone "in the know" explain what this Happy Dance was that ROR was doing after the 27 second TD drive??  Inquiring minds want to know and pictorial evidence would be liquid gold...

If that is the way it works out, of course. But bring your own Hamms, very difficult to find in my area.

WAHOO3

Congrats the Johnnies. Thats why they play the games.
What a crazy year in the MIAC. There are many "what-if's" like this, but lets say the Johnnies don't block the Oles kick right at the end of regulation and the Oles go onto win that game. We would have a 5 way tie for first place in the MIAC right now. I know you guys have probably hashed this over on this board already, but who would have gone on to the playoffs in that scenario?

Whatever the result of the pairings this afternoon. Good luck.

Carleton Fans;

What's up with that gawd awful video both perched directly in front of the visiting fans?  I mean the thing had wheels and could have been easily rolled to the north side of Laird.  I can't believe it's very pleasing to the home fans either.   :(

Punting was terrible, I would reccommend practicing outside from this point forward.

Dad, next you'll be recommending that they start tackling in practice and using whistles.  Both are as likely to happen. What's the old saying John used, hunters don't go outside the day before they go deer hunting just to get used to the cold, they adapt.

I might have looked through the old results too quickly, but it looks like St. John's has won 15 straight first-round playoff games, the last opening-round loss coming to Occidental in 1985.
