If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

Hey, Oz, how's the movie Australia?

I'm not going to bother seeing it.  Negative reviews I've seen say that the acting is "porcelain" and the positive reviews say it has a "message".

They should have just made a Crocodile Dundee without the humor.  Some sort of bush life on the frontier with drama.  Instead I believe there is an attempt to teach us a lesson.  And if there is one thing to know about me, it's that I'm not interested in being taught moral lessons by Hollywood.

Okay, we're going to see Slumdog Millionaire instead.  I'm hoping to get a glimpse of the United Airlines call center in Mumbai (forgive me, but part of me wishes the terrorists had targeted it).

Dateline Hollywood has this noteworthy insight into Australia:

I've been told that Week 2 of the new Bond is beating the first week of Australia ... IN AUSTRALIA!

Also interesting is this tidbit:

But Australia now looks like a low-grossing Far And Away with Vegemite that's more about Aussie Pride than profit. As for whether financially this is Rupert's Folly, Fox keeps insisting that the film's cost of $125M was tempered by 40% Australian government tax credits to bring Australia's negative cost down to $75M.

Happy day!!!  My tax dollars hard at work!

Looking for ways to give those arteries a workout?

"Sold out at £6 a bar ... the tastebud sensation that's a mix of milk chocolate and smoky bacon"

The unlikely hit Christmas gift is Mo's Bacon Bar, which contains chunks of applewood smoked bacon combined with smoked salt and milk chocolate.

I went and saw Australia with my daughter yesterday afternoon since she did a study abroad last spring in Aussieland. It was alright, though a movie that is 2 hours and 40 minutes long can be a challenge. Interesting perspective about how the aborigines were treated.

So Wartburg seems to be looking like the team that lost to Auggie, not the one that beat Point.

OzJohnnie

Well, the Johnnies played WW well it seems.   Good job, boys.

Willamete is getting creamed.

Wartburg just scored a touchdown with 7 seconds left on a pass to go up 30-28. Assuming they make the extra point, it would be 31-28. Comparable to the Johnnie game at Carleton two weeks ago. :D

Godfather;  Are you suggesting the Johnnies should be in the quarterfinals next weekend?  That'd mean the Warhawks would have to beat SJU twice in the same season - highly unlikely.

Much like the Johnnies this year, who thought we would be sitting here watching the Vikings play for the conference lead?  Strange days indeed.  Most peculiar, baby.

And just like that, the Vikes are in the hunt.

Ok, the question: Is Childress any good?  I really like the players he has in every position, even Ferotte looks good with all that talent around him.  I'm particularly impressed with how well they execute.  But special teams and some play calling in critical situations is infuriating.

My opinion is that Childress makes a great assistant, but poor coordinator and head coach.  What say those closer to the action?

Willy Wonka

Childress is a dbag...but we're going to win the division, lose badly in the first round and sell the farm for McNabb in the offseason so we're pretty much stuck with him for at least another offseason. Barring a complete collapse over the final four games anyway, which wouldn't upset me as much as it normally would.

As for MIAC info...

The Gusties have cut the coaching applicants down to four and begin interviews this week. The only people involved in this entire process are the new president and Al Molde, the AD. These two have gone to extreme lengths to keep the names secret, except for Brownie. I know one of the other three and it might surprise some on these boards. I'll leave it at that out of respect for their secrecy, but will expound if someone else knows and wants to spill the beans.

I expect the hiring to be completed before the new year is here.

It will either be a continuation of the current regime or a complete overhaul so alums like myself and Frank are essentially foreigners. It will be interesting to see which way the big wigs want to roll. That said, the new prez wants to double the size of Lund Center by 2010 and has a couple other grand ideas on the backburner, with cost absolutely no object to him. I've been told they'd prefer an alum, but don't be surprised if they try to make a splash with this hire.

Developing, as Frank's buddy DustySJU likes to say...
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

The news we are getting out of the UK lately... This is just a tragedy:

"MISS ENGLAND TOLD SHE IS TOO CHUNKY"

MODEL agencies are turning down sexy Miss England Laura Coleman because she is too fat.

IBM says, "You make the call!"

It sure seems a mystery to me why the administration may want to overhaul the "support" network at GAC.  An enigma inside a riddle even.
