Further to Dusty's post, here is the complete schedule for next year:

(all games start at 1 p.m.)

Sept. 5 - at Wisconsin-River Falls
Sept. 12 - vs. Wisconsin-Eau Claire
Sept. 19 - at Concordia
Sept. 26 - at Gustavus
Oct. 3 - vs. Bethel (homecoming)
Oct. 10 - at Hamline
Oct. 17 - vs. St. Thomas
Oct. 24 - vs. St. Olaf (family weekend)
Nov. 7 - at Augsburg
Nov. 14 - vs. Carleton

Will be good, I think.  Two Wiscy teams followed by a trip to CC, Bethel homecoming and another potential winner take all season ending climax, this time in Collegeville.

Could be a tough schedule.  I don't know about you kids, but I'm pretty excited.

Ha, no way in hell.

I see 4 troubling games on that schedule.  Let's hope the Johnnies can go 8-2 (7-1) and make the playoffs.

This offseason for the Twins makes me want to puke. 2Y/$12M for Casey Blake?  Ugh.  Just make me the GM already.  If Delmon Young hasn't been traded AND he's not starting on Opening Day of 2009 something has gone horribly, HORRIBLY wrong in Twins Territory.

Hey Bean, I stopped at DQ last night and got some chocolate ice cream.  Thinking of you!

So CAR fired all their ammo this year?  Maybe, I guess.

Your troubling games are...? UWEC, @CC, BU, ...USTD?

Call me an out of touch dreamer, but I think CAR has a better chance against the Jays than the Tommies.  The Tommies have a rich tradition of sucking and two seasons are not enough to shed that legacy.  CAR have a couple years on the USTDers in that respect.

As long as I'm posting random info I'm coming across today on the interwebs, how about these bailout apples?

(click to embiggen)

You'll have to look carefully to make sure you eyes don't deceive you, but, yes, the bailout is now about 30% more expensive than the inflation adjusted (ie, made bigger) budget of WWII.  The unprecedented disaster here may not be the crisis itself the amount of money the government is tossing down the gurgler.  And these numbers don't even include the auto bailout.  Nice.

Oz, Do you ever plan to move back to the States?
MN has another budget mess on it's hands, I may be moving to South Dakota  ;)
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Hey LBean, ever since the Wiscy trip, there have been all these jokes on here about chocolate. I don't get it. Did you and Tay Zonday do a duet or something at halftime?

The best way for the coaches to prepare for this schedule right now is to turn up their recruiting a couple of notches.  The players are left to themselves to take care of off-season conditioning (unlike in other divisions and, I suspect, an increasing # of D3 schools) and most do a pretty good job.  Go coaches; go players!

Touchdown Tommy

Hooray for Sports Tmerton ! ! !

Mr. Mayor, Chairman of the Board and all other distinguished members of the MIACPP---

Let it be known that the Little Wiener Doggie showed a strong affinity for the Chocalate Cake as well.  This has not been reported with nearly as much gusto, but remains of equal importance...

BTW: Ran into the LWD at the Wild game on Weds night.  He then called me saying Morneau was in the 1st row on the glass with a fine piece of trim.  Excellent scouting by Veek who also reported seeing TC nearby springing some wood.

105: I don't believe South Dakota has income tax.  Good choice, but perhaps someplace more exotic would be more apropo...

tMert, think I read something in Pioneer Press yesterday about a PBS special on Thomas Merton.    Think it's on Dec. 14.   Check your local  listing.

I'm always surprised when the godless lefties at PBS do something like this story on such a huge, modern  Catholic figure like Fr. Thomas Merton.

105;

I'm unlikely to move back. This is a great place to raise a family. Plus Mrs. Oz says I have to. And much to tmerton's chagrin, I've come to enjoy aussie rules football.

I believe that the toughest part of next season, for the Faithful, will be deciding which one of BDB's facilities in RF to buy the Hamms on Sept. 5.  :P

Either one will be fine with me 57.  ;)

We'll have to do the radio show from over there that day and have fins and JR on again.  8)

Well to a point they are on their own.  Central now has two full time strength and conditioning coaches for all of their sports programs.  They even now have a strength and conditioning major within the excercise science program.

To muddy the waters farther do you really think that recruits can help the J's this fall when they are freshman?  I know that the right kids can of course but do you think there are that many to be had to help from day one with all of the returners the J's have?  Just curious I am sure it is possible.
