Congrats to LU coach Joel DePagter.  Rumor is he was married last weekend.  No confirmation if he wore his pink socks to the ceremony.

Yeah. Clearly you have nothing to offer but the same crap time after time.

I invited Carroll O'Connor to come beat the crap out of him, but he said the waiting list for such idiotic comments (even if he pounded 10 guys a day) was about 30 years long.

Been a while since I posted. I will share some wisdom: no charge.

What LU and Carroll has accomplished over the past 6 years is unbelievable given the MWC desire to keep athletics as a secondary sport to academics.   With the move of Tharp and now Shultz, the golden age of MWC b-ball is going to be over.

I am not going to look things up, but the number of wins that LU and Carroll have had in NCAA play far outstrips anything that the conference has ever done with the exception of the crazy good Beloit teams gong way back then they were really D1.   With the move of Tharp and now Schultz, the league is going to move expeditiously back to the back of the bus.   I have not seen anything in the recruiting classes at LU last couple of years that suggest they are not heading back south.  Many of you have probably forgotten how bad they were for years and years and years.

Not my hope,  but my prediction.  It has been great to see the MWC kicking around the CCIW and WIAC on occasion, but I believe it is over.

In the first 50 appearances for the MWC going up to 2003 they were 16-50  (not including consolation games). Since 2004 (the first year Lawrence made the tourney on their current run of success in the league) the MWC or rather Lawrence and Carroll are 7-7.

Carroll and Lawrence have had great runs, but I don't think they are running out of gas yet. St. Norbert's is also making a very strong run and I would watch out for them in the coming years.

Nut, nut, nut.......................... It's budget, academics and then athletics. You're forgetting the most important part. LOL; kinda.

I think this could be an off year for the conference, given all the talent that has graduated, but I doubt it sets the MWC back 10 years. Other teams are in the building process (a historical rarity) so I think somebody will step up and carry the banner should Carroll and Lawrence stumble. I'm not guaranteeing any tournament wins, especially after last years bracket, but the sky isn't falling either.

H-C, Could you please splain your math. The D3 tournament began in 1975 and I'm not sure how the MWC has played so many games. Even if you include Coe, Cornell and consolation games the numbers seem a bit high.

I also counted the College Division Tournaments (Former Division II) going back to 1957. The Midwest Conference lists them as tournament appearances for MWC schools on their press releases for basketball. If you only count the Division III tourney the MWC is 7-30 from 1975-2003.

I believe that the rumors of John Hoch looking to transfer because of Schultz's departure might further that prediction.

Like I said, they are just rumors at this point, but still.

The Roop

If he stays in conference his credits will transfer so he can graduate on time. Any "rumors" as to whom the front runner might be ??

It's very uncommon for a player to transfer to another school within the same conference for obvious reasons.  I highly doubt he's looking at MWC schools.

The Roop

Just like Mike Dowden didn't stay in conference when he left Beloit for St. Norbert right ??

It's not that uncommon. In fact, it's so common that the CCIW and WIAC have restrictions on how it can happen.
