When Grinnell abandons the system I will challenge Dave Arsenault to a steel cage match. He has some height on me but we're friends so I think the fake blood will look real.

How about we get into the conference portion of the schedule before we make lots of claims.

What I believe systematic meant by abandoning the system was during late game situations, (when they have enough to win) they switch to a 2-3 defense and spread the floor get fouled and try and make their free throws. Could be wrong though.

They had a 14 point lead at St. Norbert a few years ago with two minutes left. Gave up the system and lost. Do your homework.

I'm not saying it's a fool proof system, I'm simply commenting on what Grinnell normally does in certain late game situations. System games are generally a series of runs, for both teams, and when Grinnell has a lead late in the game, they cannot afford to give up a run to the other team, so they "abandon" the system and slow the game down. What happened with norbert helps prove my point in that with a bigger and more athletic team than past years, I think Grinnell will win close games with defense in the half court.

The Roop

I think everyone is missing the point. I'm trying to set up a steel cage match between Dave Arsenault and myself. Proceeds would help average women become Hooters Girls. What can I say, I'm charitable.

well if that's the point then count me in for a ticket...i'm pretty sure coach arseneault used to box back in the day, so i'm not sure how you'll fare, but since it's for charity, everybody wins  ;D

people helping people, it's powerful stuff...

The Roop

$7 at the door, $5 in advance. Except for scottie, it's $35 either way for him.

OBC

Roop, will this cage match take place at Flood Arena during halftime of the BC/GC Men's basketball game? If so, I'd like to propose former Beloit head coach Cecil Youngblood as the referee. It will have to be a big cage to house the 3 of you.

The Roop

I was hoping for Dave Hebner but I think Cecil would make for a good special guest referee. The College might not appreciate it though, so lets keep it off campus and hold it at Beloit Memorial High School. They have a larger seating capacity and better concessions anyway.

Get Howard Finkle as the announcer and I'll sign the deal right now.

In what game did they lose to St. Norbert while up 14. You ask me to do my homework and I did.
Games versus Grinnell @ St. Norbert

2005-06- Grinnell wins 115-112
2006-07- St Norbert wins 122-97
2007-08- St Norbert wins 123-106
2008-09- DNP at St. Norbert
2009-10- St. Norbert wins 109-72

Not one game was Grinnell up 14 and lost.

If you meant @ Grinnell here at the scores as follows.

05-06- DNP
06-07- Grinnell wins 93-66
07-08 Grinnell wins 100-87
08-09 St. Norbert wins 107-96... Grinnell was never up 14
09-10 DNP

Im not trying to be mean, Im just confused. Do your homework?

System Error

While I was looking through those box scores, I saw some great games between LU, GC, CC and STN (Not saying they had a four-way game). Did any of those players go overseas to play basketball, like Braier or Hinz did a few years ago?

It didn't carry over to the new Web site, but St. Norbert beat Grinnell 114-113 on Feb. 6, 2004. Grinnell led 113-103 with 6:19 left and went scoreless the rest of the way.

The Roop

Yeah, what he said..................   :P LOL

I didn't realize that I should look back 6 years. Also, they went 8-15 that year, so hardly a year to gather decent "system" data from.

Actually Grinnell was 16-2 coming into that game.

Would that be psychological redux or would it be primarily a physical treatment regimen?

Chris Page from LU is playing in London according to Andy Hurley.

I could have gone a long time without someone reminding me of that 2004 SNC/GC game. Grinnell was nationally ranked that year and had a senior class with about 6000 career points. And we don't score for 6 minutes. Not even a free throw!
